I really hope we get a Boba Fett centered episode at least touching on how he got out of that pit.

I mean, it already sort of was, but now it has sand worms.

Krayt Dragons are well established in the canon. There’s a skeleton of one in A New Hope, and the roar ObiWan does do scare off the sand people is supposed to mimic the roar of one.

It has to be. The clones would all be ancient at that point. Rex was an old man in Rebels due to the accelerated aging.

I’m convinced Walton Goggins would be great in this show.

Also, we’re just finishing up Justified and we recognized Olyphant from his walk. He looks fantastic. Here’s to hoping we do see him again.

Yes, I’m aware.

A lot of elements of the original Star Wars were borrowed from or inspired by Dune. I was just making a joke that now they’re not even trying to hide it.

Was great. Maybe my favorite ep so far. The krat dragon hunt straight out of kotor, Fett armor then Boba Fett. Loved it. A western space opera they way George wrote the OT, no stupidly over powered Jedi with Galaxy reaching powers and no ridiculous drama. Just good old fashioned fun.

Ok, I guess it has to be Fett because it was Temuera Morrison... but I haven't seen him in many roles in awhile. I honestly didn't recognize him bald.

I know a lot of the talk is "is he going after Mando because of the armor"; but there's another angle too. Fett was a bounty hunter, obviously the Guild comes into play with this.

Several things become apparent-
Fett has been MIA for what, 4-5 yrs now? In-story timeline.
Mando immediately was going to kill the Marshal for that armor, if he didn't surrender it.

That means Mando has never come across Fett, and apparently didn't even know of him... or else he'd have been honor-bound to do the same to him.
That probably means Mando hasn't been a bounty hunter for more than a couple years; came into the business after Fett disappeared.

With Fett back in the picture, what does that mean for Greef Karga (Carl Weathers' character)? Does Fett take over the Guild now?
Does Fett come back looking for work?
Does he approach the Guild for info on Mando, not knowing he's also a bounty hunter (and tied to Karga and Cara Dune, who's now Karga's bodyguard)?

The possibilities are interesting.

At the end of episode 5-The Gunslinger when Fennec Shand was dead a figure sowed up and looked at her dead body. We never saw who it was(speculation was Fett) but we heard his spurs and last night we heard them again.

Is fett a mandalorian or did he just have the armor like the Marshall?

I assume they are going to just take the basic outline from the old expanded universe where he used a thermal detonator to kill the SP.

Yes as he became the leader(Mandalore) at one point and lead them through multiple wars.

He just has the armor. Jango may or may not have been a disgraced Mandalorian but they do not consider him to be one. Boba took the armor after Mace Windu killed Jango so even if Jango had been one at some point Boba was never with them.

quote:

"I recently encountered a man who wore Mandalorian armor. Jango Fett."
"Jango Fett was a common bounty hunter. How he acquired that armor is beyond me."
~Obi-Wan Kenobi and Almec

quote:

Although Fett wore Mandalorian armor, the government of Mandalore saw him as nothing more than a common mercenary and insisted he had no actual ties to the Mandalorians.

quote:

Jango Fett was born in the years prior to the Invasion of Naboo. He claimed to have been born on the planet Concord Dawn, a Mandalorian world, but his exact history was unknown, much to Fett's enjoyment. While he did wear Mandalorian armor, officials of Mandalore disavowed any connection to Fett, claiming that he was simply a bounty hunter who somehow stole an artifact from their planet's troubled past. However, Fett's armor itself was fashioned from durasteel alloy, while most Mandalorian armor was made from beskar. In most other respects it was the same as the gear that had been designed hundreds of years prior.

Incorrect regarding Boba.

quote:

After a promise made to a dying Fenn Shysa, Fett became Mandalore and eventually led the Mandalorians through the Yuuzhan Vong War. Originally working as a mercenary for the extra-galactic invaders, Fett later aided the New Republic in their battle against the aliens. When the Yuuzhan Vong assaulted Mandalore and bombarded the planet's surface, a large deposit of Mandalorian iron was unearthed, ironically helping to strengthen the Mandalorians. Later, during the Second Galactic Civil War, Boba, who was still leading the Mandalorians,

Jango also had different armor than Boba.

quote:

Around 40 ABY Medrit Vasur made some new armor plates and a helmet for Boba from some of the Mandalorian iron deposits that were discovered in the countryside around Mandalore. Medrit and his husband Goran Beviin thought it more proper that Fett's armor be made from this material, since he was Mandalore. The pieces were painted in the same color pattern as his original armor. Medrit added a gorget to the ensemble, explaining to Fett that this way he wouldn't have to worry about being killed in the same manner as Jango had.

That's the Legends Wookiepedia entry. The Canon entry says that Boba was not a mando.

LINK

quote:

During the initial phase of the First Battle of Geonosis, Boba witnessed Jango's death at the hands of Jedi Master Mace Windu, whose swift decapitation of the infamous mercenary resulted in Boba developing a lifelong hatred of all Jedi.

The orphaned Fett grew up in the company of criminals during the Clone Wars. He joined the crew of Aurra Sing, hoping the ruthless bounty hunter would help him exact revenge against Windu. Their plot ultimately ended in failure, leading to a brief stint in prison after which Fett struck out on his own, working as a bounty hunter alongside the likes of Bossk and Dengar. Over the years, Fett was employed as a mercenary by crime lords as well as the Sith. During the Galactic Civil War, he successfully tracked the Millennium Falcon to Bespin for the Sith Lord Darth Vader, who allowed the bounty hunter to take Captain Han Solo to the Hutt gangster Jabba Desilijic Tiure in 3 ABY. A year later, the Alliance to Restore the Republic attempted to rescue Solo on Tatooine, where they fought against the Hutt's mercenaries, including Fett, above the Great Pit of Carkoon. During the battle, Solo accidentally slammed a pole into Fett's jetpack, igniting it and causing the bounty hunter to tumble into the man-eating sarlacc pit. However, Fett survived the encounter and was on Tatooine years after the incident.

I'm not exactly sure which books and comics counted as canon in the old extended universe. It's been a long time since I read the books but I can't ever remember Boba being a mandalorian in them.
