It’s not the character. It’s the forced part. I mentioned it already. It comes off as the female charge in endgame that was just cringy and made you role your eyes. Having a female rule numenor is just that.

You mean like how Hollywood has forced strong white men as the face of nearly everything for much of its history?
I’m just curious if you grasp that the default you have anchored yourself to is in fact it’s own decades long outcome of pandering and forcing a particular range of actor/character into the vast majority of leading roles in Hollywood. And why you don’t carry similar disdain for that sort of forced representation?

Every piece of mainstream for-profit art is meant to appeal to various audiences, call it pandering if you will, now, explain to me why white men should indefinitely remain pandered to at wildly disproportionate rates from every other demographic in the country?

Even though I think these race arguments are ruining every one of these threads, I think you're being obtuse in comparing pandering to different races in this case. If a character was originally black in Lord of the Rings, and they made the character white, then you'd have an argument. However, that doesn't appear to be happening here.

Um…that’s not accurate at all. The only full written narrative with dialogue Tolkien wrote about Numenor is Aldarion and Erendis. Their daughter Ancalime became the first ruling queen of Numenor. The story is also called The Mariner’s Wife.

The amount of racism for white people by woke white nerds is hilarious

Oh again, the abject horror that a show would DARE not have a strong WHITE MALE front and center.

Fell asleep during episode 3. Second time it’s happened since the debut….the show is terrible

If you truly believed this you fricking fraud you would be wondering where the Latino representation is instead of trying to reason why the fragile 13% make up a way disproportionate amount of leads in modern programming. It’s forced pandering end of discussion.

I already addressed this though.
American TV and film is the history of over representation of white people and white males in particular. Hell, western literature is as well. This is really not disputable. Funding, scripts, what was passed on to print, and adaptations of those things all regularly gave outsize focus to that demographic, up to and including the whitewashing of characters that were written as other ethnicities or backgrounds. Hell, as someone pointed out yesterday, Samwise is described in LoTR as having brown skin, but he was played by a white actor. Crickets from the “we just want accurate skin color portrayal” crowd though…
The poster I responded to took it further, and seems to represent a common sentiment, that any break from the default of over pandering to white men(which is seen as neutral or good) is somehow not considered forced representation, or bad. Just when it’s people with darker skin….
I’m just curious from him if he recognizes the hypocrisy. Though he seemed too busy screeching to gather himself and answer

Watched a video that suggests that Halbrand will become the witch king after failing to unite his home land and giving into the darkness of the rings. Makes sense I guess

That almost makes too much sense. If so, then they'd stumble over a decent story line by accident.

And what was it when for 100 years almost all products that came out of Hollywood and TV featured white men in the lead role?
Again, you are not going to find me disputing the process is not deliberate in some regards, it absolutely is. But the flaw in your logic is somehow assuming that what has existed up to this point wasn’t also a heavily deliberate process.
It just happened to be an often deliberate process that produced a disproportionate amount of content featuring representation of overwhelmingly white men. So, not surprisingly, white men seemingly didn’t go scorched earth when, idk, Liam Neeson was cast as Ras Al Ghoul, Jake Gylenhall was cast as the Prince of Persia, Ridley Scott casts white actors to play ancient Egyptians, Tony Mendes is played by Ben Affleck in Argo, a white actor plays Goku, and Scarlett Johansson plays a Japanese character.
But a black elf? Time to declare anyone that isn’t up in arms should kill themselves!
