Why did the lion go straight after Burton?

Is he gonna resurrect from this mauling?

I honestly just assumed it was because he was on that side of the gate.

I wonder if he even died, since he never did after the fall.

Probably because he took off running alone away from the group of people and the Lion went after him. I bet it's more than that though.

Plus the girl told Matt to stay on the boat after they docked. There had to be a reason she wanted Matt to see it, no?

Every Monday I'm pissed off that IMDB axed their message board.

ETA--I really liked this episode. It will turn out to be incredibly important too.

I usually go to reddit for the juicy over analyzing. Worked great for True Detective. But the Leftovers subreddit is pretty meh.

No one knows wtf is going on

So why did they release the Lion to begin with?

What if he wouldn't have run were they expecting it to just go ape shite on everyone?

The girl that comes up to Kevin after he gets gut punched by Burton tells him that not all the people on the boat are sex crazed and think that way, that there are others like her, and to stay on the boat when they dock. (to not get mauled)

Obviously they planned to release the Lion as a coup. Did she know the lion would go after Burton? That idk. It sure does seem like they planned all that though, since Matt wanted Burton to answer for what he was doing and then he gets mauled.

from reddit (David Burton references):

quote:

Season 2 Ep 1 Michael receives a letter from the pillar man to send. It's labeled " Mr. David Burton Sydney Australia "

Season 2 Ep 3 The TV in the background plays as follows: Broadcaster: "Resurrection, that's the claim in Australia. As witnesses described a man previously believed dead, emerging from a cave in Wanneroo, outside the city of Perth." Witness Interviewed: " walked out covered in mozzie bites, saying he'd just been in a hotel! " Reporter:" The man, identified as David Burt---" TV turns off.

Later on in the episode, the publisher talking to Laurie references: "This nut in Australia says he went to the other side and can't die"

Season 2 Ep 8 "International Assasin" While Kevin is on the otherside, talking to Paddy on the bridge, Burton shatters the car window, drags Kevin out of the car, and wraps a rope around his neck. He questions what Kevin is going to do to Paddy. When he tells her he's going to throw her into the well. To which Burton responds that he shouldn't and gives him a dilemma Burton: "Cross or Jump?" Kevin: "Why would I jump?" Burton: Because you don't want to hurt a child Kevin: She's not a child... Burton: yes she is, and if you do this it'll change you Kevin: None of this is real Burton: Friend... this is more real than it's ever been Kevin takes the rope off his neck and David Burton tell Kevin where the well is. Before he goes, Burton whispers some thing into Kevin's ear. Up to this point, what he says is one of the biggest secrets of the entire show

S3 Ep5:

He finally made a physical appearance to the show, providing Matt with an important revelation. We see him attacked by the Lion at the end of the episode. One of my biggest questions is will he die ? That question has big implications for Kevin

I took it as she just thought Matt was a good guy and told him to stay on the boat so that he wasn't mauled by the lion when they released it

Another thing to consider is that Burton posing as God denied Jesus and said he had a twin and that's why everyone thought he resurrected and that Jesus died in the cave.

You have to wonder if David Burton's twin died in that cave.

You are probably right, I am looking for something that is not there.

Frasier the Lion is apparently a real thing... lol

The whole legend (and it's a real story: LINK) of Fraiser the Lion was that he was this old Lion nursed back to health, the Lionesses wouldn't mate with anyone else, and Fraiser comes there and ends of fathering 36 cubs in like 16 months slaying Lion poon left and right.

The thing was not to say his name after midnight "Lest you become him". It implies to me they were going to milk Matt's man-juice into that cup and impregnate as many women there as possible with it and continue to build the cult.

That would have been a hell of a boat party to attend.

What a weird, weird episode. Not sure what I just watched.

There is no way they can wrap up even 1/4 of what has taken place in the show. They haven't answered a single question to any of these mysteries in 25 episodes.

I just hope this isn't a troll job where Kevin wakes up in the final scene and says "wow, that was a bad dream".

Can we please abandoned this theory for all series finales? People made the same kind of comments for Breaking Bad, Mad Men & The Sopranos.

Furthermore, the writers pretty much said that this isn't the type of series that holds it's audiences hand throughout the experience. I don't have any problem with them keeping certain things a mystery.

I was joking...there's no way they'd do something that extreme.

I'm good with that just like I was good with the Sopranos' ending....but you have to give us SOME answers.

I was pretty sure I heard someone say "launched by the French" and "the island was uninhabited" in the background at one point.

My Lost memory is basically vanished but man that feels like another weird Lost subtlety. French people and an uninhabited island. Wasn't there a French group on Lost?
