All men would have to pull their weight in this environment and the weak ones would be the first to go.
It would be a bunch of alpha males (like Joel) and the women and children they protect.

I played the first game when it came out and think it’s one of the all time greats. Much older now and not a gamer anymore so I haven’t played the second one. These writers (and Ramsey) are ruining such an awesome world that I might go get the second game so I can have that ending instead of whatever they plan to give us in season 3.

less likelihood of getting knocked up. Of course it's a little late for Dina.

It makes me legitimately frustrated how much they’ve fumbled TLOU. From changes to how the fungus/infected work, to changing key linear items in the story from BOTH games.
They’ve changed Ellie for the worse and made it seem like a collection of one shots.

Finally caught up on the last two weeks last night.
I think I'm to the point where this show has two episodes left this season to convince me to keep watching, and if they aren't good then I think I may have to give up on it. I wanted this to be good SO much, and it's just not.
There is so much stupidity in this show. Between the incessant woke and girl power bullshite, to the bad acting, to the shite characters, to the absolutely insanely stupid decisions, etc. And I don't even care if a lot of this shite is in the game or not...it's just becoming bad television.
Since I was behind (and I'm sure nobody cares anyway
), I won't give my opinions and comments about the last two episodes, and I won't rehash what I'm sure has been discussed ad nauseum. But aside from the litany of dumb shite that I mentioned above, I don't care about just about everything that has happened onscreen in the last two weeks (the black FEDRA dude grenading his own men to join up with that woman was cool, almost everything else sucked).

I really dont like how dumbed down theyve made ellie. Maybe they thought theyd avoid making her a girl boss if they made her an idiot with no awareness. Ill still watch but theyve strayed from the source material hard.
I missed the Andor finale last night due to the NHL and NBA playoff games being good so cant go in that thread yet. Hopefully can catch up with that tonight

It's just nonstop stupidity.
Ellie and Dina going to fight a fricking organized army alone is stupid enough. But then they are stupid about how they do it. Traveling into the city and waltzing down the street is dumb and begging to get caught. Same with the horse.
"Hey, don't bang that tank door...it's loud and someone might hear us." Then five seconds later they are banging on drums and playing guitar next to open windows.
The flashlights. Jesus Christ, the fricking flashlights. You are trying to not be seen and you know the ARMY is walking around the city, yet you are shining those bright as flashlights everywhere. You are in a big room with zombies and trying to hide, yet you keep shining your bright arse lights all over the place and being seen.
And at least they address a little bit of this with Dina dropping knowledge on Ellie and telling her how dumb she is. But that doesn't excuse it away because even after that conversation they were still doing stupid shite.
Ellie attacking that one soldier and not being IMMEDIATELY overpowered is hilariously bad. I don't care if they showed her training earlier in the season. That doesn't mean that pretty much any grown man wouldn't get jumped by her with her arms around his neck, and immediately pull her arms apart and gain the advantage and overpower her.
It seems like women are in charge of damn near everything. Not that that's an awful thing, but it is noticeable.
Look, I don't care if Ellie is gay. That's fine. But I don't need it shoved down my throat every five fricking minutes. Oh look, Dina is wearing a rainbow jacket. Oh look, there's a giant rainbow on the wall. Oh look, the straight girl (who all of a sudden is bi) falls in love with the most hateable girl on the planet who also happens to look like a toe. Oh look, they're kissing and making out. Oh look, now they're finger banging and making out (and it almost seems like Ellie thinks that can get Dina pregnant
Like frick, I get it. She's gay. That's great. Now advance the fricking story somehow and stop showing us that shite all the time. If Joel was still alive, I wouldn't want to see him making out with some chick every five minutes either. It's annoying. And that's beside the point that this is one of the most forced relationships in history.
"Holy shite. I'm gonna be a dad." I literally laughed for five minutes on that one. Like had to pause the show because it was so hilarious. That is so beyond stupid. But it's woke and on par with the incessant bullshite on this show.
And on top of all of that, it feels like they've basically wasted two full episodes in a 7-episode season. Almost nothing happened of note. Sure, we see the FEDRA dude flip sides to WLF, we found out that Dina is pregnant, Dina also now knows that Ellie is immune, and the virus is now airborne (or at least partially). Outside of those, plus one or two more that I'm sure I am forgetting, it's just been them running around this empty city getting into some bullshite.
The infected bodies in the basement exhaling the spores was pretty cool and well done. That was definitely creepy.
The fact that they weren't killed in ten seconds is laughable. shite, at one point Ellie's slow arse was running through an open room with multiple trained shooters firing at her and they didn't even come close to hitting her. And of course her and Dina outrun grown men with ease.
She's being chased by the Scar people, and they come at her from all directions and surround her at this tree. And nobody thinks to look inside the tree? They just assume she vanished like a fart in the wind?
Oh, they finally are gonna face consequences for their stupidity and are holed up in a room they can't get out of being attacked by the infected? No worries, Jesse is there to save the day.
I don't know, it just feels like the plot armor is incredibly overused at this point, to the point of absurdity.
It's just all starting to feel like TWD did when that arrogant douche writer (Scott something??) used to sick his own duck at how "meaningful" the episodes were, all while they got less and less entertaining. I bet the LoU writers are the exact same way, and I bet they pat themselves real hard on the back for how enlightened and "inclusive" these episodes are. When in actuality, they suck and people just want to be entertained.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but my interest is dwindling fast. I went to catch up a couple nights ago, and ended up just turning it off and not wanting to, and finishing up Black Mirror instead. This show is starting to feel like more of a chore to me than something I actually enjoy. I'm still here, for now, but that may change if the next two episodes aren't awesome. And next week looks like it will be completely a flashback, which sucks. So that means we'll only have one episode for Ellie to find Abby. And I assume that will be cliffhung, so we won't get much resolution on that front.
Anyway, sorry for rambling.
Weirdly, I think the "Take on Me" guitar scene was actually pretty well done. But only because it reminded me of the acoustic version from A-ha that came out a few years ago (2017). Seriously, it may be better than the original version:

All I care about is where's Shimmer? They just leave him in the factory while they go off and fight Scars and Wolves?

I'm going to keep watching because I do really like the infected, and the battle going on between the WLF and the scars. All that is good stuff. But damn did they drop the ball with Ellie this season.

You are not in the minority. Its hard to invest in a show where the main characters make stupid decision after stupid decision and get away with it strictly due to plot armor and Deus Ex Machina.
I don't care that they are girls, I don't care that they are gay, I don't care that Ellie is ugly. I care that its a horribly written show that lacks any common sense and ruins what should be an incredible world.
Hell they haven't even really told us how fungus works and why some people die out while others become the hulk. Its like the writers don't care about the actual unique aspects of this world vs ours and are strictly trying to tell a dumb love story that literally no one cares about.

You have some good points there but did you jus malfunction during this rant?
It's a side plot about two teenagers hardly being forced also 90% of what you ranted about happens in literally one single scene. Also Dina's jacket isn't a gay pride jacket it's literally a reference to a character in the Walking Dead game (Clem) who wears the same jacket. Also the story about her always being bi kind of proves that she didn't suddenly become bi. 19 is kind of a major point in life where people discover who they are. Also Ellie definitely doesn't think she's a guy it was literally a joke pretty amazing how badly some of y'all missed the obvious fact that it wasn't serious
Now we can talk about if the show has balanced their love story well that's all fine for it's been just alright but definitely some not great moments with the two

Oh, now we get a story from Dina about her being bi when she was a kid. Oh look, another makeout scene, but first let's eat some beef jerky so our....breath doesn't smell so bad? . Oh look, they are kissing again.

Not having played the games, I do feel like there is too much left unexplained for the nonplaying watcher.

This "subplot" has taken up nearly half the screen time during the last 2 or 3 episodes...
I have no issue with them being gay but they have beat it to death and it has almost nothing to do with the actual story. If anything it derails the actual story because Ellie is supposed to be hell bent on finding and killing abby, not sniffing her fingers.
Hopefully now that they have seperated Ellie and Dina, the show can get back on track.

Such a broad range of emotions and acting talents.
Can't decide who was the most powerful character...
As Lyanna Mormont..
Or as bad arse Ellie...
It's why I tune in every week.

The showrunners really fricked up this season. She's just too young looking to be believable as a badass. Every scene where she fought with a male has been laughable. It's not Bella's fault, they should have recast the role.

No. I was very deliberate in what I said.

Bruh, it isn't a side plot. It felt like the majority of the last episode and a half was devoted to it. And it is 100% forced. Dina has never been gay/bi before, yet happens to fall for the main character who is ugly and a terrible person.
And again, I don't care if she's ugly or gay, but she isn't the kind of person that the cute, straight girl (who we've seen in a relationship and know is pregnant from that) would literally fall in love for. it is forced as frick.
quote:

Again, not true. The kissing was throughout the last two episodes.
quote:

I don't care what it is a nod to. It's a rainbow. In a show crammed full of woke shite, it gets thrown in with the rest of the references.
quote:

That's my point. She became bi with that one story. It's not even believable that they are together, yet here we are.
quote:

I mean, you can say that all you want, but it doesn't make it true. When she said "I'm gonna be a dad," I'm pretty sure Dina responds with "Yeah." Then she tells Jesse "We're gonna have a kid" or something like that, doesn't she? Or was that Dina and Ellie talking about Jesse? I don't remember which, and I have no desire to watch any of the episode again. Not because there's gay stuff in it...but because it just wasn't good.
And I know that Ellie doesn't literally think that she is the kid's father. But she definitely thinks she's gonna "be a dad." That seemed like it wasn't a joke at all. She seems to really think that she will be raising the child as its dad alongside Jesse.
All I'm saying is give Ellie at least SOMETHING redeeming about her that makes me believe that ANYBODY would be interested in her. I remember thinking similar things in S1 when she makes out with her friend in the mall or whatever. It just felt forced and totally not believable. And this one is even worse (and Ellie is significantly worse now as well).

So ignoring what it obviously is you're just going to whine about what it isn't because you didn't understand the reference?

Bro what, she clearly isn't straight that's just you being hyper focused on her sexuality also you seem weirdly focused on Ellie's looks despite claiming you're not.

My guy you're overanalyzing a freaking joke. Why are you so hyper focused on this and the fact that Ellie and Dina are together? You seem more obsessed with "woke" than you do anything else and it really dilutes any other points you make which some points you made are actually legitimately good ones.
