Irony.

Im sure you feel that your righteous crusade against the oppressors that are HBO and Craig Mazin for making you watch the show is justified. But it has become a joke to everyone else because we know you will always have to find something to complain about.

If we already know that no matter what you will find a reason to complain, how can anyone take your complaints seriously. You are the Karen that always has to send her food back at the restaurant because something is wrong with it, but will insist it isn't you that is the problem

I think it’s plausible that a woman would become the leader but she was horribly cast. The lady last night was mousy and didn’t exude any confidence or leadership. She wasn’t believable at all.

i think one thing a lot of people arent putting together is that this group is not a group of soldiers.

1. the guys that ambush J&E were amateurs. When Joel kills one of them, the other guy literally stands out in the open to check his buddy. Joel could have popped him right then and there
2. The kid that got shot in the back was crying for his mom. not exactly a battled hardened combatant.
3. Watch the group that's there. Most of them are regular folks half assed wearing their gear. One guys vest was half slipping off. i saw a grand ma looking lady wearing a helmet.

This group probably took over fedra from sheer number alone, not skill. They would have turned to anyone wanting to step up to be leader and if she had a prominent role in planning the coup she probably wouldnt have met much resistance. At least early on which seems like where we are.

She mentions her brother to the doctor which is probably why she killed him. Killing a doctor in any ZA is dumb which means she probably isn’t even the original leader. Something involving Henry probably caused the chain of command to get shuffled up. This entire storyline is brand new so I’m not even sure where it’s going.

I'm still in the middle of watching the episode but one comment I'd like to make is how absolutely fricking absurd the results are when modern entertainment insists on sticking to their "representation" agenda. There is no way in hell that a world reduced to such utter brutality would find a woman in a position to order around men. It would violate every instinct in men who could no longer rely on the rule of law to protect them and this would be especially true of the particular type of men to have survived in that world. Watching this soft-spoken woman walk around giving orders is just utterly laughable. They may as well devise a plot in which a woman strolls into Angola prison and becomes top dog. They're just so uncomfortable with the fundamental differences in the nature of men and women and the way in which these differences are pronounced in extreme situations.

Good lord some of you will find ANYTHING to have a reason to bitch.

You'd have to completely pretend that there are no real world examples of a woman rising up to be a feared leader for your lame arse rant to be worth considering. Boudica, Joan of Arc, Tomyris all did that shite in just as if not more brutal eras.

This was the show's attempt to demonstrate that she earned the respect of her followers through ruthlessness. To overcome the natural dubiousness of a woman doing such a thing they needed an over-the-top example of it thus providing one that transcends ruthlessness to become merely absurd.

You keep using purdy words like that in the apocalypse and somebody will make you their woman.

in the previews we see some big monster looking thing(final form of infected?) crawling out of the ground, so I assume that thing is down there

I figure if Anne Bonny can exist as a famous pirate captain, who led men, in a very brutal world then I think it’s within the realm of possibility.

Now, I do think it’s odd to have Melanie Lynskey in that role since she typically plays very sweet, soft characters.

So much like this board to be focusing on how unrealistic it is for a woman to lead a group of survivors in a fricking Zombie show, rather than talking about the great episode.

my issue was who they cast for it as I could care less if a woman or man. Again maybe they cast her for reasons down te road and she has never played a strong role in anything I have seen her in but everything is reaction based off of emotion. Might work out.

In regards to the episode I enjoyed it but very predictable. But again just driving with no action would not make for a great episode either.

As soon as she showed up bossing people around in my head I was thinking about the Tigerdropping melts that were going to happen. She probably wasn't even the original leader. That's a guess obviously but it could be that her brother was possibly the leader and she is having to step up to fill that role. But I agree with those that said she was miscast.

I agree bad casting of her part…hard to picture Rose from two and a half men being the leader of a group of hardened survivors…

It’s funny how past roles influence the way we perceive actors/actresses. The last thing I saw her in was Yellowjackets and my immediate reaction was “this bitch is probably a psychopath.”

Same. She gives off female Gus Fring vibes imo. The type of character that doesn't seem capable of doing something violent or horrible until they do it. She's believable as a soccer mom that gets the kids dressed and off to school in a hurry so she can finish chopping up the body in the garage.

You nailed it.

I’m not saying she’s necessarily right for the role though. TBH I don’t even really know what the role is yet. I’m sure we will get a flashback of some sort next week elaborating on what exactly went down in the Kansas City QZ.

Exactly. This show is based on a video game. The enemies start out weak and then get progressively harder. The angry movie board guys should take solace that the girl boss is basically only in charge of the tutorial enemies.

It’s not a spoiler. I’ve never played the game. It’s a simple knowledge of how video games work.

Her 2 episode appearance in the Shield is all the proof I need to be convinced that she can pull off being a ruthless, devious, monster.
