Who gives a shite. I wish this season only got through a 3rd of the first game. I'd like a lot of seasons.

Show runner has already said he is not going past pt. 2. They haven't even said they are doing a season 2 yet.

Numerous people have said "do you want episodes of people just wondering around like there was in The Walking Dead?" I don't think anybody wants that, but TWD had like 1,000 seasons, they had time for filler episodes. That's the main reason I wasn't a fan of episode 3, this show doesn't have time for filler episodes. If you're possibly only getting 9 episodes, I'd prefer there not to be any episodes that you could completely skip and not miss a beat story wise.

Watch it and then you can see how bad Last of Us is compared to a well run show.

Lol the show with 75% rt audience reviews and a 7.6 on imdb is superior to the show with 90% audience reviews on rt and a 9.1 on imdb

It's cool if you wanna be a hipster and hate the more popular show. To say it isnt well run is bullshite tho as the screenwriter for TLOU is coming off multiple emmys.

Also the last of us will win more awards

Season 2 has been confirmed for a while now and will likely start filming later this year. Drukman said the second game will likely be split into two seasons as well

Realistic. With people becoming fungus zombies? C'mon. There is nothing realistic about any of this.

You must have missed the first few episodes when they outlined the process of the cordyceps mutating to work in humans.

This reminds me of game of thrones where we would complain about characters teleporting across westeros and people would say "but there are dragons".

Just because zombies arent real doesn't mean nothing in the show needs to be believable. It would definitely cause eyes to roll if we saw joel take on 100 enemies by himself

I thought it was a decent episode. My problem is with all of the filler episodes in a series that only has 9 episodes. This felt like another EP 3 and I understand why it exists. Its great storytelling, but seems like a lot of wasted time.

Also, the danger threat of the infected seems nonexistent. They respond to sounds and you're in an arcade playing video games, riding on a carousel, and dancing with music playing. WTF

Yep, you're right. Last time I checked I couldn't find that a season two had been confirmed. Good to hear even though everybody on here seems to bash the second game. Point still stands though.

Not going past pt2 doesn't mean it has to be done in 2 seasons.

But I didn't miss the part where it likely took Cordyceps millions of years of evolution to get to the point where it could take over the brain and physiology of an insect or an arthropod. Or the part where it would likely take it tens of millions more years of evolution to figure how to do the vastly more complicated trick doing the same in a mammalian physiology which is almost unrecognizably different and a vastly more complex neural structure.

Ok let's do believable: You just brought in a expert in fungi who clearly had a epidemiological background and asked them to respond to a local outbreak of a new strain of something that's affecting people in a disastrous way.

"Bombe."

"Shouldn't we make every effort to quarantine every single person who's not shown up to work at the affected facility, along with their families and all potential contacts? Then determine who's infected and do full medical histories with workups and continuous observations to look for patterns in the progress of the disease with regards to factors such as age, gender, pre-existing conditions, ethnicity, residency, lifestyle, diet, etc...?"

"Bombe."

"Maybe we should immediately begin to coordinate our activities with the WHO and other countries of the world, especially the U.S. and European health agencies who have the industrial and research resources to perhaps find some kind of treatment or prevention if they can get started now?"

"Bombe."

"Ok, sure we can drop some incindiaries strategically if need be. But couldn't we mobilize all of our tactical abilities to determine the most effective targets and work together with our civilian emergency authorities to get those non-infected to the safest locations, working to secure those locations simultaneously?"

"Bombe."

It's a dystopian game. It's not realistic. Nor was there ever meant to have any of that pesky realism, except perhaps just enough to draw us in. I'm not sure how the story could even work if people, society and governments responded in a realistic fashion. It's entertainment. We're supposed to get lost in whatever world they create for us no matter how far it ventures off the beaten path.

Ofcourse it would. It's a game mechanic. Just like it caused eyes to roll when the heavily experienced expert survivalist walks down the center of a road wide open in the middle of a gunfight carrying a hunting rifle. C'mon. Really?

I'm sure we could all go back and forth on the whole reality thing. But to me it's the basics of story telling. If you've only got so much time, but you have some extra to embellish with related background and relevant details, then don't waste that time. They've wasted quite a bit on irrelevant material.

I dont consider the background of how the main character discovered they were immune and showing that she lost her love the same day is irrelevant material. Especially when the episode before she discussed that with joel when he tried to abandon her

Fine. Take two or three minutes and some syrupy background violin music , thrown in with 20 - 30 seconds of classic zombie horror as we watch the inevitable unfold. Move on. The 'love' part is useless, but if you like, imply it or something. Then get on with the story.

Oh, and don't forget the most important detail: The motivation for the Fireflies, against all accepted convention, noting that she's infected but not turning, deciding not to kill her immediately - instead deciding to keep her under observation.

On a similar note, the cussing is just weird. It feels completely unnatural and out of place. Someone said it earlier about how forced it felt to try to make Ellie seem edgy,

It’s the actress playing Ellie and the writing.

I didn’t mind the concept of the episode except for how careless they were lumbering through a deserted mall during a zombie apocalypse without any caution. Everyone you know has been killed….wouldn’t you be a little more careful?

Since this is a series and they spect a long run, take time with character backstory and development. I don’t have an issue about the pacing but do it well.

The conversations seemed clunky and not natural. The other actress did a good job but Ellie just doesn’t seem natural in anything she does or any of her dialogue IMO. She just has this blank stare and it’s hard to tell is she happy, scared, excited…etc. she has the angry and brash art down but has zero vulnerability or depth.

TBH she’s just not very likable and it’s hard to feel sympathy for her. It’s a combination of acting and the writing.

The one time I got engaged in the episode was in the arcade when the camera pulled out and showed the infected guy. I thought finally, something is about to happen.

Everyone watching knew what was going to happen the minute they entered the mall. Who wasn’t waiting for the eventual infected attack? We were all just sitting there waiting for it …. Then they show the infected guy…..and we wait some more.

The only people that seemed to not care about being attacked were the characters.

The actress just looks gay. Not sure how to describe it.

Even in Game of Thrones.

That makes sense, and could be my issue with it.

So far, I do find it very hard to care about or pull for Ellie.

It really blows my mind that people think her acting performance is good in TLOU

In Game of Thrones, she dominated every scene she was in.

In the Last of Us, she has no range outside of sad/quiet and cursing up a storm

This show is good but it’s not ground breaking or worthy of all the hype it’s receiving. Is there even a gamer thread for this show anymore? Seems to be losing steam week by week.
