re: The Last of Us | S1, E7 | NO GAME SPOILERS Thread

They cut 3/4 of the game out. I wish we could get a couple episodes about Joel searching houses for duct tape and plastic bottles
Were not really getting anything of Joel being a complete and ruthless bad arse and that’s basically 9/10 of the game.

Take heart guys. Episode 8 leaked and it's 45 minutes of Ellie crafting a bandage.
haha it really is hilarious to read these threads. The Last of Us 1 all cutscenes added up to less than 2 episodes of time (an hour and a half)
yet they act like we are going to miss something by having a back story episode even tho this season is over 9 hours
the longest, most stretched out version with gameplay and cutscenes is 5:09, which still leaves plenty of time to add in the background bill/frank and ellie/riley episodes and still fit in 2 more hours of storytelling than was in the game

because this is a television show, not a video game. and they want it to be more realistic. they changed the wound he received as well. this episode was in a good place if Joel is gonna heal before next episode. Having him get injured at the end of E6 and then be fine in E7 would have made E6 pointless.

Or Hollywood loves taking bad arse male characters and deconstructing them into little bitches?

Im not in the "this show can do no wrong and if you have any small complaint at all you get downvoted because its perfect" camp, but they aren't making him out to be a bitch. Not sure how you're getting that vibe.

This makes no sense in the context of the show. He got stabbed in the gut.
They’ve clearly established that while flawed, Joel is still pretty badass. Has some PTSD, but still badass.

Joel isn't anywhere near being a "deconstructed bitch" in this show and the guy who wrote the game is writing the show too. It's not Hollywood doing anything to game's story. Neil Druckmann is doing what the frick he wants with his own shite.

I enjoyed the episode, though
I just see Joel as Jake Skywalker, and this is a different story in the same world.

Joel caved some dude’s face in during the first episode and sniped the shite out of the hunters in episode 5. Some people just want to make shite up to bitch

Not surprised there was a groomer propaganda episode after the gay propaganda episode.

The teenagers were grooming each other? The FEdRA school was grooming the students into being FEDRA soldiers? We saw Ellie brush her hair?

Ill be sure to read all about it in your blog.

Also, am I the only one that just assumed Ellie was gay from episode 1?
Was it the lifeless stare, foul mouth, or bitchy attitude that gave it away?

Station eleven is better than this show

I cried during the last scene. Loved this episode.

That's one I think I started a while back but only saw the first episode. Does the season end well or leave things open ended? I see there hasn't really been any news on a second season.

How could you like this episode when now they arent gonna have enough time to finish the show due to too much "filler"?
They are gonna run out of time in the last episode and have to cut it off halfway through til next season.

Realistic. With people becoming fungus zombies? C'mon. There is nothing realistic about any of this.
If they've got three or four time-locked 50 minutes episodes and they've ditched a couple of key things, it can still be a good story. If they have limitless episodes and they've injected some irrelevant stuff, fine it can still be a good story. They are boxed in here. Any time not spent on advancing the story is wasteful filler and we've seen it happen now with 1 and 3/4 episodes.
This has nothing to do with reality. Has more to do with decent story telling of a good story.

Who gives a shite. I wish this season only got through a 3rd of the first game. I'd like a lot of seasons.

Station Eleven was one of the best shows on TV. They did change the book a bit but it worked well.
I wouldn't expect a season 2. They completed the book arc and not sure it really had anything else to tell.
Watch it and then you can see how bad Last of Us is compared to a well run show.
