Instead of killing..
Think of the outcry that would have occurred had a president made the announcement that he is sending troops to Afghanistan and Iraq to forcibly rape saddam hussein, his sons, Osama etc. Like everyone is just getting raped over and over.
Eta
Imagine if that became a thing. Like, not only do you have to worry about hitmen, but now you also have to worry about arse assassins. Imagine Putin or Kim Jong getting railed by a group of trained specialists and that footage put out in the world. No matter who you are, things would never be the same for you
To be fair, I'd rather be murdered brutally.

Just finished and it wasn’t a bad episode but man there have been 3 episodes out of 7 that advance the plot zero and there is only 2 episodes left. The pacing of the series is just not good. We get that episode after a great episode 5. It just kills all the momentum

This was quite possibly the worst hour of tv I’ve ever had to sit through.
fricking garbage for anyone not interested in the dialogue of teenage lesbians.

The editing was what killed me. The escalator scene was cringe, the photo booth was cringe, the carousel scene, etc.
The one time I got engaged in the episode was in the arcade when the camera pulled out and showed the infected guy. I thought finally, something is about to happen. Then we didn’t see him until the very end.

Perhaps that should tell you something about the profanity and nudity?

Yes, pastor.

Boring episode that most saw coming, but still better than most anything else.

i just think it's funny how everyone always complains about adaptations not being faithful and we get the most faithful adaptation ever and people are basically criticizing the game because all this stuff really happened in the game. can't have it both ways. S2 threads will be 100000% more toxic than these are.
It’s not that faithful. They have taken plenty of “creative” liberties to “modernize” the show from what the game was.

Im honestly stunned so many ppl are in a desperate rush to blaze through just to get to the events of TLOU2
Right?
And at this point, we haven’t built up near the emotional stakes between the two main leads like we had in the game for what happens in 2 to even be close to worth it.
This show just has me shaking my head.

Can I complain about them spending and entire episode on DLC?
I love that its a faithful adaptation of the game. Just dont need two entire episodes on small parts of the game.

Put me in the camp that thought the episode was not good.
Also, am I the only one that just assumed Ellie was gay from episode 1?

Some of the differences.
No spores in TV show - infected die off and fungus grows along walls creating spores that can infect uninfected humans.
Vines (or whatever they called them in show) - not in game, could be intriguing addition if expanded on
Joel's daughter was white in video game - not big deal just listing differences
Roberts found dead in show - in game Joel and Tess hunt him down killing him for stealing their guns
Tess' sacrifice in game is from Fedra and we get a Joel/Fedra shootout
Origin (Indonesia) part is not in game - again no big deal
Bill & Frank - no need to rehash this argument
Pitts vs KC - gangs are differently motivated but not a big deal either
Sam is not deaf
No sewer escape getting out of Pitts/KC - was cool in game finding underground habitat people built but ultimately they get unfected and you have to fight them off plus Henry and Ellie get seperated from Joel and Sam.
University- more infected in game (not many) but much more humans come after Joel and Ellie. Ellie ends up killing quite a few saving Joel.
Thats about it so far.
Edited to add the last episode was pretty spot on to the DLC content. It just wasnt a good DLC to begin with but I can see why they added it to the show for backstory.

Last week I watched the preview for this episode at the end of E6.
It pretty much gave you the entire episode and I don’t feel like I gained anything by watching this hour.

Eh, when the major complaints is teenagers cussing too much and MUH GAYS it’s a bit ridiculous
My major complaint is that it is a bad show where the writing has the characters making stupid decisions. These characters have survived 20 years (or their whole life) in a fungal zombie apocalypse but act like they have no common sense.

I recall reading that Druckmann/Mazin decided to go with tendrils instead of spores because they didn’t feel the spores would translate well to live action. Difficult to represent on screen, didn’t want to deal with masks, etc.
The tendrils have roots (no pun intended) in real-world fungi just like spores. I kind of wonder how much they thought through the whole “hive mind” thing, though, as it seems a bit inconsistent.
The sewer and university parts of your post can probably be summed up as “a lot less infected on the show.” I can see why they made that choice as well - some of the situations you manage to escape from (or fight through) in the game would probably seem a little ridiculous in a live action show. That said, I think they may have gone a little too far in the other direction.

Someone earlier said this episode felt disjointed from the main plot. 100% spot on analysis because even in the game, this was a DLC level you didn’t even play until after the game was over.

The below post summed it up a bit. I think overall, we aren’t getting a show about Ellie and Joel moving through the world. It’s just as much about all the surrounding characters who have gotten entire episodes dedicated to them in an alright tight season.
I’m just not getting the same emotional build up of Joel and Ellie teaming up and growing a bond as they cross the country like we did in the game. We’ve actually cut out a few of their adventures that are present in the game in favor of other stories like in KC and Bills compound.
ETA: also the university level like explained above. We’re exploring more side characters more in depth than we did in the game, but Ellie and Joel’s journey is the sacrifice apparently to fit that all in. Not the way I would’ve gone with it but I’m just a regular guy on a message board.

They took 1/9th of the game to show two teenage girls in a mall?

They cut 3/4 of the game out. I wish we could get a couple episodes about Joel searching houses for duct tape and plastic bottles
