I'm watching it now, and I don't think I've watched it all the way through in years. I don't remember most of it but I remember the ending. When they play The Gael... such an awesome scene.

What is everyone's thoughts on the film? Anyone read the book?

The score gets me every time. It really makes the movie.

One of my son's favorite movies.
He jumps all over the living room fighting imaginary foes throughout. 10 years old now and has loved it since he first saw it 5-6 years ago.

One of my favorite movies. Best score of any movie, ever, IMO.

Something i do notice every time though. I understand the reasonings behind them leaving behind Monroe's daughters in the waterfall, but man, what a dick move.

And his response to her when she says go, is "You stay alive, no matter what happens, i will find you." What if they just hack them with a tomahawk when Magwai first finds them. Kinda hard to "stay alive" with a blade in your skull.

But that's just me being cynical and nitpicky. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Love the movie, but the books suck.

Want a laugh? Look up Twain's comments on JFC's "literary offenses"

One of the best movie scores of all time. Very dramatic. I thought the movie was really good.

Pretty great cinematography, too.
I love how the real heroine of the movie is revealed at the very end.

Alamo Drafthouse is showing it this month. Have tickets for the Richardson showing. One of my all time faves.

Still makes me cheer when Mogwai(sp?) gets his arse kicked by the dad.

As was noted too...the cinematography and score are top notch. Also, they did a really good job in making everything authentic....including those brutal fight scenes.

My buddy used the Gael as his walk music at his wedding. He didn't tell any of us it was going to be done.
But as we were waiting to walk out, he told us the etymology of groomsmen at weddings.
It was an old custom where your warrior crew stood with you to protect the bride from being stolen by rival clans.
These are the people you trust to fight for you and your family... to the death if necessary.
Then the music dropped.
Everybody was so pumped up.
It was hard to stand still during the ceremony.
One of the coolest moments in my life.

Its really a phenomenal movie, the fight scenes are beautifully choreographed.

And of course the main theme and the promentory are two of my favorite pieces of all time.
