It's not long at all. Less than 200 pages, depending on the size of the page.

one of my favorite books. I might reread it this Summer as well.

The trailer looks great other than the music. The casting seems perfect.

The book isn't super long, but I read it and just had to ask the question "what made Gatsby so great?" I wasn't impressed with his character in the book to be quite honest

The Robert Redford version is the tits. I dont think this one can top that one although itll probably be a more hollywood friendly version and will do well at the box office but im not sold itll be as good as the 70s version

If the trailer is an accurate indication of how good the movie will be, the movie will be absolutely terrible. Reminds me a lot of the shitty Romeo and Juliet movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes that came out in the mid '90s.

I don't know about "absolutely terrible," but it certainly doesn't look very good at all to me. That trailer doesn't appeal to me in the least.

If I'm being honest, I was more intrigued by the text above the trailer on that page. Mainly because I mostly forgot everything about the book and the trailer didn't do much. I expect many parallels or similarities in Leo's performance here to his performance in The Aviator.

It's becoming chic among literary types to bash The Great Gatsby which is a shame. I think it is arguably "The Great American Novel." More writers would be better off trying to emulate Fitzgerlad's straightforward prose than whatever flavor of the week is currently in vogue.

And I love Baz Luhrmann's over the top productions. It fits Gatsby and the Jazz Age. His Romeo + Juliet is inspired lunatic brilliance. And if you're willing to follow his train of thought, a neat critique on Shakespeare. Big fan.

I've been following the development of this film since back when it was a rumored project with Leo playing F Scott in the Beautiful and the Damned. I think the trailer looks great, but I'll reserve my judgement of the film until after I have seen it.

Even though it was panned by the critics, I'm a big fan of the Redford version. The original pick for Daisy was Ali McGraw. But, when she left the studio head for Steve McQueen, she was out. The next pick was Natalie Wood. But, by the time they got around to her, she was already committed to another project. So, Mia Farrow got the part. I've wondered what the movie would have been like with Natalie Wood as Daisy. However, the more times I see the 1974 version, the more I appreciate Mia Farrow's portrayal.

The first episode of People Magazine featured Farrow as Daisy --

Pretty great cast in the Scorcese version:

Vincent Chase
Natalie Portman
John C. Reilly
Vera Farmiga
Emily Blunt
Ryan Gosling

Produced by Mark Wahlberg and Brad Pitt, with Scorcese, that makes one hell of a creative team.

Dr. Diane Keaton: How would you characterize "The Great Gatsby"?

I think I remember Gatsby being shot by Tom Buchanan and dying face down in his pool
