There's some talk that this movie parallels New Hope in some ways.
I'm thinking (POTENTIAL SPOILERS BUT THEY COME FROM MY MIND) that the story will show that the siths, the force - it's all cyclical. There are always two siths, and they get knocked off for new ones to come in.
So to show this, Abrams like with Star Trek, will try to subvert the typical Star Wars timeline. Something is going to happen to break their universe free from the same cycle.
Luke becomes Yoda. There's a new Luke ready to save the day.
But this time will be different. And instead of truly saving the day, it breaks the story wide open for new adventures in the future.

Looks like he was a Tie Fighter pilot who crash lands on whatever planet that was. Perhaps changes sides after getting to know the rebels or something?

noticed Ren doesn't have his mask on in the fight at the end.
The air to air fighting looks good. I like that shot of the X-wing hitting the Tie and you see pieces falling off with every hit.

Just watched it 4 times and dvr in slo mo. This movie is going to be awesome and they did a great job of not giving anything away.

And I'm not deep into Star Wars lore, but did they just START with clones for the imperial army? I would imagine regular soldiers were recruited in at some point.

I refuse to believe that one of the greatest protagonists in all of film history is turned into a freaking bad guy after almost 40 years.

I think it's what Lucas had always wanted the Falcon to look like when at light speed but didn't have the capability to create it.
