My thoughts:
1) Chick may be Lukes daughter since shes seemingly alone and comes from nothing. Either luke put her in hiding or she may be no one special.
2) Black guy is a ner generation of non clone, clones and has no purpose after the fall of the empire
3) Luke is touching R2D2 at the same time those storm troopers arrive and wipe out who he's with, Possibly a group of jedi he is trying to train. Obviously the bad guys find out. Maybe he's pulling a "Youre my only hope" like the first movie.

and to think I used to worry that Lucas wouldn't live long enough to make the final three.
Now that I realized how badly he screwed things up, I don't care if he does or doesn't.
Hey, give credit to Disney. We all made of it when they announced they would make a new one but it seems they recognized the flaws in the prequels and Return of the Jedi and said enough of the merchandising and cute crap.

No way Luke turns to the dark side after all the shite he went through in ROTJ. He wouldn't repeatedly refuse to turn with his father there, watch his dad turn back and save his life against the emperor, watch his dad die, and then decide to turn after all of that.

Right. It wouldn't make any sense. He faced his toughest challenge when the Emperor was telling him to turn or all his friends would die. He was willing to die instead of turn to the dark side.

I thought the general consensus was that he discovered something in the force and had an accident so powerful that it terrifies him of himself, and he decides the galaxy is safer with him disappearing.
