Even if you took the overt racist nonsense out of the show, the story makes no sense and nothing follows in it. It’s a racist fever dream, not a coherent story.

which is kind of the issue Marvel runs into with DC/Star Wars shows, they have to be grounded due to budget, its fine for shows like Daredevil and even Penguin for DC.....then you have shows like this that could use a larger budget and its eitherseverely limit action because you can't afford it or go with bad CGI that looks like arse (Obi Wan, Secret Invasion, etc)
Hal never charging his ring just seemed like a way to easily explain his lack of using it. It was pretty damn easy to charge so being on a constant low doesn't make sense.

killing Hal is another thing
I thought they were going to show she had no choice but to kill Hal....but the dude was just saying hey we have to get the hell out of here to keep you and him safe and she's like nope gotta shoot you in the head. Then she decides to call in John to find out if her son is indeed a monster? Like what? She also suffers no consequences for killing him in cold blood
The show seemed to have some ok ideas but executed them poorly because the writing was blah.

I watched that clip again to maybe catch something I might have missed. Nope, the dude is genuinely ashamed of being white. Just groveling and apologetic in tone the entire time. Is this what these people really think of Hal and the rest of Gen X white guys? We're all just clueless about the blacks and need to be educated? "You have to listen and learn." What a bunch of condescending horse crap. There's literally nothing that dude and the other writers can tell us about race that's helpful in any way.

Watching anything with the writers / creators of this show makes this show a thousand times worse. Whoever greenlighted this group of racist / race baiting assholes deserves to be fired.

I wonder if some actually believe that or is it just a bunch of hand wringing, because he checked about all of white apology cliches you could there.....in a room full of black guys "oh man these guys are going to see how much I hate racism! I might even get one of those fist bumps I see African Americans giving each other on TV"

That's probably half the people. The other half are the ones who are the awful racists. They buy into the crap because they are actually really racist so they believe everyone is like them. Then they go over the top to prove they aren't but you are. Projection.

It’s very easy to see why the show fails on every single level. These people have no idea what they’re doing. It’s fan fic based on what amounts to this woman’s personal journal and narcissistic views of herself.

Loved the last episode. Great series from start to finish. My only gripe is I don't like John just up and randomly changing the oath. That part doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The whole episode seemed rushed without a lot of thought.
