I more inclined to think it's Pierre's dialog coach than a writer.
Nah, the repetition and enunciation of the dialogue seemed pretty deliberate to me. It was out of character.

You think Aaron Pierre is trying to say "ask" and just can't get it right, even with a dialogue coach?
No. Aaron Pierre is British and he could easily have an American dialogue coach that has told him to pronounce it that way to reflect the character he's playing.
Similar to how you can have 2 different British actors with 2 different dialogue coaches where one sounds like a American with a genuine southern accent and the other sounds like Foghorn Leghorn.

This thread was going pretty well until the last 4 or 5 pages. Sucks that the ones not watching bring their boring arse algorithms in here. Yikes!
Anyone have any theories on how the show ends this Sunday? I've been enjoying it but I feel like things will get rushed. The sheriff has got to turn at the end, right?

I think the son is a manhunter, and someone will end up as a yellow lantern

I think Hal is who busted Sinestro out of prison, and I don't think he's really dead.
But I'm trying to piece together how it would have worked. You can do it with the wormhole, but you'd need to put the one on Anton's planet first. Then go see Sinestro, put up the "acme hole", when he goes through you take it and leave.
But that means he either did it long ago (2016, when he still had the ring), and nobody noticed; or he had another way to get there besides the ring. And the way Guy acted, I don't think it was the long-ago option, at least not the final break-out.
And if the real Hal isn't dead, I'm wondering how he disappeared without the ring.

Take with a grain of salt, although this site is pretty good

Nexus Point News has learned the full writing staff behind a potential second season of HBO’s hit series Lanterns. Christopher Cantwell, Nakkiah Lui, Zack Whedon, Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, and Vanessa Baden Kelly make up the Season 2 writers room, working under showrunner Chris Mundy.
The writers’ room comes together as Lanterns Season 1 heads into its finale on Sunday, October 4. HBO has not officially renewed the series, but the lineup signals that DC Studios and HBO are confident in building toward more Lanterns stories well before any formal greenlight.

Then we're in agreement. Using "axe" was a deliberate choice by the showrunners, not some strange pronunciation accident that slipped through.

Saw early on that Lindelof only had plans to be involved for one season. He wrote Watchmen as a mini series and only wanted to do one season of this, not sure why.

100%
The yellow lantern theory I was on board with early on but might be a red herring.

I completely agree. If it's like most dialogue coaches they are given a fictional character background and some sample dialogue by the studio and they ask for regional or ethnic details and go from there or they specialize in a specific dialect and are hired for that purpose.
I don't think Pierre was handed a script that said "ask (pronounced as axe)".
I also think it might have been something Pierre struggled with and that's why it sounded like there was emphasis on it when he said it.

I said "showrunners", you keep saying "dialogue coach". Do you think some dialogue coach did this on his own and it just slipped past the director? I think Pierre used the exact word the creators wanted him to use. They want to remind us that he's black even though he's got light skin, because skin color is very important to them.

The seventh episode of “Lanterns” reached 7 million viewers in the U.S. in its first three days of availability.
That total comes from a combination of Nielsen’s measurement of linear viewers on HBO‘s cable channel plus streams on HBO Max. The DC Universe series has shown strong viewership thus far, averaging above 12 million viewers per episode to date in the U.S. and nearly 19 million when factoring in international viewing.

“Lanterns” is also continuing to bring in new viewers as the season progresses, with 1.5 million new viewers watching the series premiere within the last week. The series finale will be released this Sunday.

If that was a response to me I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not part of your youtube spat.

I know nothing about writers. Looked them up and it's more blackety-black and the guy who turned Southland into a gay soap opera in its last season.

The creator of Halt and Catch Fire. Not black, but blackity, apparently.
Joss Whedon's brother who's done a ton of work on shows that are popular here, and (most notably for me) Rubicon. Forgot the Whedons were black.
An Australian who wrote on The Great.
A black writer none of us have ever heard of but who will be hated here for reasons even though no one here has anything against black people ever.
The black writer who wrote episode 3, who is hated here for reasons, some of which appear to be expressing opinions on podcasts, even though those opinions are not reflected in the content we actually see onscreen.

I never said he was black, mensa. I said he turned Southland into a gay soap opera, although you could make the argument that by S5 it was already a soap opera and he just made it gay. Is that accurate enough for you?
