Yeah. I know he doesn’t intend it, but still comes off like a prick.

I’ll split the difference and say Honnold is an autistic prick

Ep 4 neatly tied up most loose ends.
Crazy they showed the exact moment Dean impacted. Glad they showed where and how.
Dude was one crazy beast; the China slackline was completely insane.
Cool series and Dean should be proud.

I'm so glad he didn't die in China. I knew he was going to die someplace but if it was going to be in China on that BS event, it would have been such a disappointing let down of his work over the years. China was for only 200k and was called Harry Potter
Dean was legend in his realm but could not recognize it. I think he really found himself when he re married and started to teach/show others how to do things. The kids especially. This gave him a purpose that he needed.
Loved the fact that the head Park Ranger became a climbing buddy

I had followed Dean for years as a climber and reading Outside mag and such back whenever print magazines were a real thing. When he got super into wingsuiting and such, I didn't really follow him that closely, so I didn't really know much about his personal life toward the end.
All that to say: damn! I didn't expect them to go full redemption arc with him seeming to find some sense of family and happiness. Made the death that much more gut-wrenching. I always just sort of thought that the latter part of his life matched the earlier, where he was an insatiable thrill seeker always pushing the limits and just ended up paying the consequences. I didn't really know that he'd entered into a solid relationship and become a lot more stable.

I think that Honold is similar in that he doesn't mean to come off as a dick, but he just does at times anyway.
I love people like this though. at least you always know where you stand with them. does it cause ruffled feathers? Sure. but damn it sure cuts a lot of the bullshite out.
