You are doing it wrong. I see at least 4 movies a month, in Dolby or IMAX, and it costs me $20 total.

my TV at home works just fine and gives a better experience

No it doesnt
It may work "fine" for you, but it is not a better experience.

And for everyone who says they dont like being around people..theaters arent full anymore. I hate being around people and very rarely do i have to sit right next to someone. I saw Ambulance opening night this week and there were 6 people in the IMAX theater with me.

Sure. That's why every film that you listed is a comic book film.

My home theater was a mere $16k and I still like going to the theater just for the outing. I go to theaters that serve food.

Your next statement immediately following the one above is clear evidence that many people agree with me.

There's not a single movie made nowadays that's worth the price of a movie ticket.

people that would rather watch specific movies at home than at the theater, i believe, are sociopaths. no one can tell me they get the same experience from sitting on the coach looking at a walmart Onn LED TV with stereo audio like they do at a Dolby/IMAX theater. i almost would rather you people not watch it all because you're not going to get the full experience of this movie sitting on the couch. and then you all are going to come here telling us how "shitty" it is/was.

am i going to go to the theater to watch The Lost City, Dog, Ambulance, Umma, X, etc. ? no.

It's mediocre garbage like this that keeps me out of the theater. These movies are so dull in their content, so easy in their production and so formula driven they've ruined the theater experience entirely.

After the first 15 minutes of boom sounds and dazzling lights and colors, you're left with shite screen writing, shite acting and a predictable dumbed down storyline. The sensory experience is over and you become completely desensitized to it.

When it's all said and done, I'm left pissed off that I paid to sit in a theater for that bullshite.

i'm serious. have you guys never had such a positive movie going experience that you just felt satisfied afterwards?

Not in a long time. These big computer animated CGI type movies are dull as shite. They all look the same. They all sound the same. And they're all a dime a dozen.

I have an almost $20k Dolby Atmos home theater setup that is fantastic and I still like to go see the big blockbuster movies at the theater because it's not the same.

Well then you wasted 20 thousand dollars. Who spends that much money on a home theater, only to get an inferior product compared to a public theater?

If I spend that much money on a home theater, the experience better match or exceed what I would experience at a public theater.

Well, then there’s no movie worth watching ever then. Not in a theater or at home. Might as well unplug completely and go outside.

I guess movies like Interstellar and Top Gun aren’t worth it either, eh?

Not to me they're not. The positives of watching a movie at home far outweigh what you get at the theater. And if the movie happens to be bad, which big theater movies often are, you're much less annoyed by it.

I'm perfectly fine with a few less boom noises and flashy flashies. It won't matter if the movie is worth seeing.

Oh and Interstellar was a bore.

Baw, you wouldn’t know a good movie if it sucked your dick dry.

This is fairly accurate. I went to see it with someone yesterday, my second time seeing it in a theater, and we were the only two people in the auditorium. Really felt like a private screening. Hell, the theater was understaffed to the point that I actually got up right before the previews started to turn the lights out. Seriously.

So I’m a sociopath for not wanting to spend three times the cost to sit in a huge room with a bunch of random people who are constantly on their phones, moving around, and making noise?

No, the people that don’t get any sense of emotion from a movie seen in a movie theater or at all for that matter. From some of the opinions given here by the anti-theater crowd, every movie is a shite movie and to them, I ask “why bother watching movies at all?”

-Egon’s ghost (GB: AL)
-Batmobile introduction (TB)
-“On your left…” (A:EG)
-Strange signaling to Tony (A:EG)
-McConaughey looking through the bookshelf (Interstellar)

Those are just recent memories. And a lot of them are “meh” moments to a lot of folks here, and if people really feel that way, then they shouldn’t be watching movies as I’m sure they could be doing something more entertaining for themselves (maybe).

That’s an over exaggeration and you know it. Sure, I’ve had those experiences before, but make an indirect claim that this happens every time? Come on.

Big crowds?
No crowds?
shite experience all the way around?
