It’s been a long time since I sat down and watched a movie without wanting to look at my phone or do something around the house as I watch
I watched it tonight and had the same thought. Sometimes it was hard to understand what they were saying but in this movie and In Bruges the dialogue and rhythm between Farrell and Gleeson is so good you don't want to miss a word of it, or even a facial expression. Too many movies nowadays aren't like that

Yeah they are both captivating in this movie. I recognized Kerry Condon instantly, didn’t realize she was Irish. What an interesting movie, it’s like CF is going through the “Sunday Scaries” every day. That’s how I related to him. Rarely do I drink, but if I experience a hangover at my age, I feel like everyone who knows me either wants to abandon me or would willingly cutoff their own fingers to avoid ever seeing me again.

did anyone else think it was an allegory for the two sides of the Irish Civil War?
Watched it last night. Thought about it a lot this morning and I think that's probably the easiest conclusion to draw. But I'd love to see someone really break it down bc my knowledge of the troubles is pretty limited.
This movie definitely gets you thinking.

After I read the above, I thought...
"I don't like you and I don't have to give you a reason."
"You're not allowed to not like me for no good reason."
"Here's my reason."
"That's ridiculous."
"No it isn't and conform to my new beliefs or I'll do something terrible, even if it hurts me as well as you."
"I won't do as you say."
(Bomb goes off)
Sounds like the Catholic Nationalists/Protestant Unionists to me.

What do the fingers represent? One and then 4 more. Maybe bombings?
It was very jarring to me the way it played out. Looking back on it through this lense makes it more interesting.
Does anybody have compassion for Colm? He had some funny lines but overall I thought he was a crazy a-hole. I loved the scene when Pod got drunk and told him and the cop off. Colm looked back at the cop with disgust.

I thought it was IRA vs Free State. Thought they were both catholic. But I don't really know shite about it. Never been to Ireland, but my grandfather kissed the blarney stone.

If you know the books Frog and Toad, it’s basically the inspiration from what I can tell.

Just finished it.
Was fantastic.

Keoghan should win supporting actor.
It's not often that I watch a movie and think at the time "This is an Oscar-worthy performance" but that was exactly what I was thinking every time Keoghan was on screen. Better than DiCaprio in Gilbert Grape.

Finally watched it. Absolutely loved it. Great cinematography, dialogue, and acting.
Love the scene where Colin Ferrell kicked down the door.
"How are you fatty? Dancing with your dog, is it? Well who else is gonna dance with ya? Your poor dog has no say in the matter. But if you're too rude to offer me a seat, I'll be taking one of me own accord."

Finally saw this last night. Was great.
Wife was not a fan, though.

I watched last night alone traveling for work. It was dark and bleak. But I did like it. My wife would have HATED it so I’m glad I didn’t try and convince her to see it.
I feel like I don’t know enough about what the Northern Ireland civil War to get the allegory of it all but I do understand the two different men and their bleak outlooks as well as the loneliness they both faced.
I do have a spoilerish question.

How did Dom die? I was doing some work and I just saw he was floating in the river and missed the context. Did his dad kill him?

Can't remember the exact lines, but maybe my favorite exchange...
Get that donkey out of the house!
The donkey stays in the house when I'm sad!

Watched the other night, definitely a commentary in the Irish Civil war. Might want to read a bit about that before watching or you would think it was about nothing.

This was me, while the acting was top notch, I really had no idea what it was about other than 2 fellas no longer getting along.

I need to find where I can stream In Bruges, don’t think I’ve ever seen it.
Real Debrid is $18 for six months. Once I got that, streaming was never a problem anymore.
