She was freaking out about the investigation into the pen bug and was questioning why his department was not doing more to help her (remember, he was supposedly NSA). Plus, the marriage stuff. He was trying to keep her as an asset and needed to regain her trust.
If she reacted poorly, I suspect he would have ended her.

Pretty slow episode but the rest of the season looks intense.

Show just keeps getting better. The opening scene with "Clark" and Martha was just super intense.

i think the pastor is CIA working as a "socialist" style preacher to get in with soviet groups via the back door
that's why i think he ended the conversation with paige trying to get her to start giving him info. he was setting up an asset
