Anti-White movie "The American Society of Magical Negroes" made just $1 million on opening weekend in the entire U.S.

It made a measly $310k on Sunday, a 34% collapse just since Friday.

In one scene, Whites are called "the most dangerous animal on the planet"

I was so interested in this movie because I thought it was going to be black Harry Potter or similar to the Key and Peele sketch, but when the final trailer came out, I saw it was some bullshite and got turned off.

That is Jonathan Majors’ upcoming biopic.

Never heard of this but surprised it’s a comedy and is mostly white actors.

Funny the critics bashed it at 32% and fans gave it a 65%.

Wait, even the blacks didn't go out to see it? JayArrah must've been sitting there all by his lonesome.

this made me google the plot

quote:

Roger says he has employment for Aren, and takes him to a meeting of "The American Society of Magical Negroes", a secretive group of African Americans whose cause is to make white people feel more secure, since whites will then be less dangerous to Blacks. Aren sees a magical presentation, superintended by Society member Gabbard, of past events, where a 1920s Black man reassures a fallen white pool champion about his skills, and then a 1950s Black prisoner on death row thanks a white guard for the harmonica the guard smuggles in (and plays it while walking away), then touches the guard's crotch area to make him fertile, since the guard, abused by his own bosses, doesn't feel like a man. Roger trains Aren, having him get a shy white police officer, Miller, into a slick dance nightclub.

these people can't help themselves.

and please stop casting Justice Smith in anything ever.

It is trolling with other people's money.

Kudos to them for pulling it off so blandly and unimpressively.

So it’s a rip off of Keith David’s character from Community.

The only place that I'd heard about this movie was on a bitch thread in here. If they spent any money on marketing it was targeted far from my demographic.

I saw it being advertised on Peacock but nothing outside of that, I am not their target demographic though.

Does this movie's weak opening weekend indicate that "White Guilt" movies are no longer lucrative?

Sounds like you mad after wasting your money. You probably should've paid more attention to that bitch thread

Unfortunately, the people who think everything is racist, will call this… more proof of racism. They won’t see the facts as they are, but instead, they will feel vindicated that there is more work that needs to be done.

Oh shite, was a small movie released into 1,000 theaters and barely marketed not a huge hit?

Did anyone here know about the movie before your post?

Just for those who may not be aware, the term "magical negro" is an actual literary trope, referring to authors or moviemakers and their creations. 'Magical Negro' characters, often possessing special insight, wisdom, or mystical powers, have long been a tradition in American fiction.

There have been many examples-- Stephen King, from lily-white Maine, uses the trope quite often in his books (John Coffey in The Green Mile, Mother Abigail in The Stand, Dick Hallorann in The Shining, and Speedy Parker in The Talisman). Other noted literary and movie examples include Bagger Vance in The Legend of Bagger Vance, Don Cheadle as 'Cash' in The Family Man, Whoopi Goldberg as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost, or even to some degree, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

This movie appears to be taking this trope and satirizing it, taking it to an absurd level. I have no interest in seeing it.

Half of that gross was probably from reviewers and critics.
