Elsa hasn't been depicted as being attracted to men or women, so I don't think a gay or straight individual identifying is any kind of "forcing her to fit their views". Honestly, so far Elsa could probably be best described as asexual or aromantic.
That said, I don't mind representation so long as it just plain works for the story. If I get a, "OH BY THE WAY BOBA FETT WAS GAY!" kind of thing, I'll just roll my eyes.

You laugh but in hollywood, this is taken very very seriously.
Theres no doubt in my mind Kathleen Kennedy cares more about the main character being a woman than making a good star wars movie.
In her eyes, if Rey inspires a few little girls (inspire them to do what though?) Its all worth it in her eyes.
At least that's what shell tell her rich elite Hollywood fembot buddies at the after parties and afternoon cocktail sessions in Malibu.
