There wasn't social media, there were magazines you got at the comic book store. There were less movies and a longer time between trailer and movie. I think the first trailers for T2 came out a year or more before the movie.
They would just show terminators being made, then finally one made into Arnold. He would activate and say "I'm back" that trailer was on almost every vhs. T2 and Batman were the first two movies I can remember hype for. T2 was odd because the first wasn't a huge blockbuster, it just played on HBO every other day.

No, as a kid I used to read a lot. I was big into magazines. Omni, national geo, every car mag, there were movie ones too. They would have opinions, in the back they had letters from people. It was the first comment section.
I mentioned batman earlier, NO ONE like Keaton being cast as batman.

It wasn't odd.

Arnold became a bigger star after the first one.

The Guns N Roses helped a lot with the hype for T2.

Crazy how 28 years will do that to a person.

My biggest question is where is john, and I'm glad the trailer didn't address it.

Looks alright but where the hell is John? Hoping they address this in the movie.

They've thrown in so many reboots and sequels I cannot keep track of where the Prime story is anymore.

Just think of it as the sequel to Terminator 2 Judgement Day and everything outside of that doesn't count anymore.

It's like Superman Returns.

It seems a bit over the top...even for a Terminator movie. Most believable part is that Sarah Connor would be driving an 80 series Land Cruiser.

They create a new terminator with a bunch of Mexicans as the villian and call it Dark Fate.

Can’t wait for the melts

If there is one thing that needs to return to this series is that the Terminators are fricking terrifying. Even the bad sequels after Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation to a lesser degree acknowledged that the Terminators are a near insurmountable force.

Not only was Terminator Genisys just bad, but didn't even make the Terminators threatening. For frick's sake they even take out the T-1000 in the first half hour with some goofy Home Alone trap. They were willing to stand and fight them.

I liked it when the only thing that you could do to combat a Terminator was run from it.

Considering that was literally the genre for the first two movies - a chase/horror movie

I’m not sure who decided to change it
