Finally got a chance to watch the first two, hot damn Lasso GOAT!!!

Read through the thread and I actually didn’t get the hate for the psychologist. We thought she was awesome from the start.

I did really dislike the opening scene because killing Danny’s spirit might be the only thing worse than killing a dog , but glad they moved past that quickly and it wasn’t the season long arc.

As soon as they did that, it became clear that she wasn’t there for Danny, but for Ted, which I think is going to be great. His talk with Beard at the bar about his previous experience with a therapist sets this relationship up perfectly, and it’s going to be great seeing how not only she helps him, not to mention Rebecca, but he helps her open up as well. It’s going to be classic Diamond Dogs!!

The Roy coaching stuff is great, and yes Keeley is a dream, wanking to his retirement speech

I even liked the Jamie story, especially Roy’s watch party , but didn’t like Ted’s move at the end. After his talk with Sam, no way he would have done that without talking to him first.

The way the did the cliffhanger, I’m guessing he actually did talk to him, and it won’t end up being what we think it is now. There will be tension, obviously, but I’m guessing Sam will end up helping the team understand and accept the move.

Sucks having to wait a week after being late to the party and being able to binge S1, but damn so happy to have Richmond back in the queue

Ennh.
Juno Temple was really cute, but she has not aged all that well IMO. She has moments though.

I was a bit shocked when I realized she was Keeley during the credits of S1E1.

I agree, to me she was her best back in the Maleficent days

Now she kinda looks like a drug addict

Did anyone else feel like that final scene where Jamie shows up on the field was a little disjointed from the rest of the episode? Maybe it was that the snow showed up for the first time in that scene too, but I almost rewound to see if somehow it had skipped forward or something.

no ted lasso literally said that player changed his mind and was talking about bringing him back about being a good father figure.

Basically: Ted wasn’t considering it until Sam brought it up and they had that little moment talking about Sam having a good father and that helped Sam become a good man. Ted is a good man because he also had a good father. Jamie has a shite father so that’s why he is the way that he is. Ted brought him in because he feels he can “fix” Jamie by being a good father figure to him.

Snow also could've been indicative of a peek ahead in the season.

If they're 8 games into the Championship, that would put them in the middle of September. I'm guessing snow doesn't happen in London until December. So maybe they tried to kick on without Jamie and just couldn't do it, hence Ted going back on his promise to Sam.

Now, do I recognize they might not have taken that into account when formulating this fictional show? Yes. Did I go ahead and over-analyze it anyways? You bet your arse I did.

I think bringing Jamie back was also a response to something the shrink said and possibly a smart bit of writing that would explain some of the things I didn't like about the first episode.

She tells him everyone is nice and polite and seems to get along very well. They're also on a streak of tie games. There's no conflict. When Sam even suspects Jamie is back on the team, he shows more fire than he has the entire show and it clearly catches Lasso off guard. I think he feels guilt over not being able to reach Jamie before, but I also thinks that he sees the team is too comfortable. It's also a sign of the show taking a better turn as there will now be some conflict moving forward rather than just a happy bunch of nothing.

Ted Lasso shows me why I like bingeing TV shows so much. I thought I didn't like it because you just burn through and it's gone. Maybe it's a show by show case.

We binged the first season of Ted Lasso and I thought it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. We would get to the end of an episode and either jump right into the next one or at least get back to it the next night.

This season we're watching week by week. The first episode was just okay as detailed by everyone. Then last week's episode just got back to the Ted Lasso feeling I enjoy and it's done for 7 more days. When Jamie walked out on the field I immediately wanted to jump right into the next episode.

I'm not complaining, just noticing that I think I like binging more than I thought (whether it's 8 episodes in a night or just splitting a whole season over a few days). And I don't have the self control to wait until the whole season is released to start it.

I think this will turn out not to be the case. Ted’s father died when he was 16. Ted said something about his father being harder on himself than he was on Ted. Prediction: Ted’s father killed himself, leading to Ted overcompensating with his excessively positive attitude. The new shrink will sort this out by season’s end. Expect to cry real tears.

Was really hoping Dani Rojas would turn into a dark, emo, a-hole character for at least the rest of the season.

Yeah this was my take as well.

The line about “if everyone is ok with just ties” really hit him. Ultimately he isn’t just there to be a father figure, but to help the team succeed in reaching its potential.

But he can do both for both Jamie and Sam. By allowing Jamie back he can give him the support his father never did, and can also teach Sam strength to not let people like Jamie effect his mind so much. When Sam told him no one had ever made him feel as bad about himself as Jamie did, you could tell Ted thought that was something he wanted to address.

I agree with the other poster that said the snow hints at a flash forward and it didn’t go down how we think it did at the moment.

Great call.

I couldn’t tell what that line meant but knew there was importance to it.

If he didn’t actually commit suicide he may have been an alcoholic that drank himself to death or just severely depressed, but no question that Ted’s demeanor is a shield that he uses to battle similar demons that his father couldn’t, or at least his interpretation of them.

Can’t wait to see this play out

Also, someone mentioned early in the thread that Sudekis used the show to sort of deal with his real life break up with Wilde.

That thought definitely gave greater weight to his conversation about his experience in couples therapy

Episode 3 was... weird.

Three episodes in and this season is so far kind of all over the place, whatever the problem from the previous episode seems to get solved in the next episode only for a new unrelated problem to arise.

The Led Tasso bit went on a bit too long.
