I lost it when Danny came walking out of the bus with his tight arse dress shoes.

Upon re-watch, that was one of the best episodes of TV I have seen since Ozymandias . Everything about it, the acting, storyline, cinematography, setting dialogue was amazing.

After reading through this thread, I know I’m in the minority, but IMO season 1 >>>> season 2.
I get that the writers are trying to say that everyone has struggles, but they went way way overboard IMO.
Why does everyone have to have some dark secret we need to explore? I’m not against the shrink in the show, and I think Ted’s talks with her have been great. It’s the other stuff.
I’m sorry, but I don’t really care a lot about 90% of Rebecca’s storylines. The insecurity about Rupert and the divorce was good in season 1, and she should certainly find someone who makes her happy, but her love life has gotten more screen time than any other storyline this season. If I didn’t watch season 1 I would’ve thought she was the main character.
I mean, I’m pretty sure Rebecca’s mom has more dialogue this season than Dani Rojas and Jamie Tartt combined. How do you do that?
Season 2 certainly has some good storylines I’m excited for, but I swear they need to balance screen time better. It’s like they’ve forgotten the show is about a football club. When was the last time we had an actual locker room scene, much less an extended scene from a match?
We went from a show about a football club with a bunch of fun quirky characters to a show that seems like a ripoff of This Is Us.
What’s the next episode about? It’s revealed that Higgins accidentally killed a kid 5 years ago? Colin has a crippling pornography addiction? The Dutch guy’s entire family died in a fire? Jesus Christ.

I don’t even recognize the show anymore. I do not care at all about Rebecca and Sam, or her relationship with her mom and dad. I might have a bit if the majority of the season were not focused on it.
That and other uninteresting side stories have made this a completely different show.
They have done a great job with Roy, and I think the Nate storyline will pay off in a big way. Nate will be a rival club manager with Rupert and a nemesis in season 3. Other than these 2 storylines, this season has been a bore.

I believe this is patently obvious. I still enjoy the series tremendously, but admittedly and reluctantly agree with many of your points.

Rebecca and Sam storyline is ridiculous

Y’all on some crack. Season one was good, season two is peak tv. First couple of episodes were a little iffy but it’s been money since then.

I think it depends on why you like the show. If you like good story telling and character development it’s been very enjoyable. If you are looking for the “plot to advance” ie “what’s happening with the team?”, some episodes it feels like being a football team is just the background.

Season one was a quirky sitcom with some solid writing.
Season 2 is a soap opera.
Season 2 is a soap opera.

The fact that you have to know how they are doing by watching a white board literally in the background supports your point.
I wish they would at least acknowledge they are close to promotion.

Yes I fast-forward them. I'm also losing interest in the Ted panic attacks. It's a comedy...come on dammit

Get back to being a quirky comedy with quick wit and funny banter. If I want serious I can watch 100 other
Shows.
Shows.

If you want cheesy shitty laugh track sitcom, I hear TBS has re runs of The Big Bang Theory

I haven’t seen this white board and have no idea how the team is doing. That was supposed to be a driving force of season 2, getting promotion, but it has been absent. Ted seemed to really care about promotion at the end of season 1, but not at all in 2. He just has his silly panic attacks and doesn’t seem fazed by his failures. They showed ties and losses, I assumed the team was near the bottom of the league.

I think the episode description for the beard episode was after the semi final. Im thinking the next 2 episodes have to get back to that plot of advancing

Yeah, what Bill Lawrence nailed in both Scrubs and the first season of Lasso was that it was hilarious most of the time but could pepper in these deeply serious and heartbreaking moments out of nowhere and it worked.
Season 2 of Lasso has definitely gotten away from that for the most part.

Sorry, season has been disappointing. Got away from being a clever comedy and knuckled under to the PC establishment.
