think it's a good movie, but they could have had any actor opposite DDL. It still isn't better than, say, No Country For Old Men

Or QT’s own Inglorious Basterds. Or Django, actually.

I think he did pretty well considering he wasn't even supposed to play Eli and only had 4 days to prep. He was originally going to just be the brother w/the oil tip at the start. The actor playing Eli dropped out after a couple weeks of filming and PTA decided to give the role to Dano.

Not the biggest Dani fan and think he’s a little overhyped, but TWBB is a perfect film.

Is QT saying Dano couldn’t hold court with DDL? Because that’s almost every co star opposite of him in any film.

Leo did well against him in GoNY. Even with his shitty Irish accent

Funny thing is that Dano was a replacement. The original actor was fired two weeks into shooting.

Dano was fine. Not the best actor in the world but ok. This sounds like sour grapes from something with QT.

If you need an unhinged, whiny temper tantrum... Dano is the money. Outside of that, eh.

Really? I still think this is Leo's worst performance, although I also believe it had more to do with the dialogue and character than Leo himself. GoNY is just a weird movie.

Agreed. I thought Dano played his role well in TWBB. Hes supposed to be a snake hiding behind his Christianity, whereas Plainview is a ruthless mofo in plain sight.

What a fricking dipshit

It’s a towering achievement in film. One of the greatest films of all time.

Totally agree with this take, really not sure Tarantino even gets the movie. I’m no Dano fan at all but he played the role excellently, and it’s not supposed to be two heavyweights going at it. His character is ultimately a charlatan, but if you’re not impressed by Dano in the scene slapping DDL you’re insane

IIRC Dano only had two weeks to prepare for the role, as the original actor dropped I think. I thought he did well.

I think Dano is a good actor and he plays a specific type of role perfectly.

I thought he was ok. If someone other than DDL was there, maybe he doesn't look as bad. But yeah, he was completely overshadowed by DDL.

I'm guessing QT wanted to see Zoe Kazan's feet and Paul said no.

Cameron Diaz is so bad in that movie that just about everyone else gets a pass from me.

Sidenote: I wish we could have had more Liam Neeson in GONY

Stuff he said throughout the 20 movie list was pretty funny. I give him props for being honest though. Most are just going to shower every actor with compliments, he's at least giving an honest opinion. Doesn't look like Dano will be getting a spot in QT's last movie though.
