Not sure how it’s rated on this board but I say that’s the best acting performance by Will Smith, and I know it’s not saying a lot because he usually just plays himself

Never saw Ali but the only movies I saw him in where he was really acting and not just playing Will Smith was Six Degrees of Separation and Pursuit of Happyness.

Nah, that’s just Will Smith playing a homeless version of himself.

haven't seen a handful of his movies but saw Concussion the other day and thought he did well in that.

The Pursuit of Happyness
I really enjoyed Seven Pounds. Not sure if that was all Smith or the screenplay, but he did a good job in that role.

That was Will Smith playing a serious version of himself. Watch any of his videos/interviews on social media where he tries being inspirational and you’ll think “oh, this is Will Smith from pursuit of happyness”

Ali was the biggest challenge for him, and I think he knocked it out of the park. Not quite Jamie Fox as Ray Charles, but he did it really well.

Trying to capture a personality as big and poignant as Mohammed Ali could have been a disaster, and he handled it really well.
