The one part of the movie that disappointed me was the CGI Snoke. Although he appeared to be a hologram, so maybe in Ep. VIII he will be live action.

It very likely will be motion capture like in this movie. Serkis is the father of motion capture acting and that is why they brought him on for this movie. He did an awesome job as Gollum and as Caesar, so I expect Snoke will be no different when we see him in person and not via 30 ft hologram.

Snoke is John Williams?

Smoke is not a Sith. The Knights of Ren violates the rule of two.

Do we actually know anything about the Knights of Ren?

The Rule of Two was enacted by Darth Bane 1,000 years before current events. Before that, there were many Sith, but they kept fighting each other and killing each other off, so Bane , being the last Sith, enacted a new rule to prevent that from happening again. Dooku already violated this rule with Ventriss. This is not a set rule - anyone can break it.

I wouldn't mind it being Plagueis. Not enough people know who that is so it would be an original, yet established villain. It would also, to a certain degree, tie everything together.

Don't like that he looks just like Voldermort though. Next thing you know, he'll be hiding on the back of Kylo's head.

This was mentioned on the day the movie came out in the big thread, just saying.

You can tell the people who didn't pay attention to the movie by the fact that they missed what a hologram is and how they are used in the movies.

OMG, Palpatine's head is 10' tall.

(and the best ever use of Lucas' reimagining effects goes to this effect in Empire, the only change that is much better)

Darth Maul violated the rule of two, Sidious was still a pupil to Plageus when that movie took place.

The Rule of Two

Is useless. Everyone always has a secret one in waiting. Sidious had Darth Maul when he was Apprentice to Darth Plagueis. Then Dooku had Ventriss when he was apprentice to Sidious. Vader tried to seduce Luke to overthrow Palpatine. There have been 3 pretty much at all times.

No, and I am leaning towards the Knights not all being force users.

I actually expect only Kylo to be the force user.

That would make the story better imo.

If they were, it would really screw up the rule of two.

This makes sense, you would think if they were all force users we would have saw more of them in the movie. I'm guessing Ben was the oldest and most trained pupil as Luke would have known him his entire life. I think Kylo's story going forward is going to be amazing. I have high hopes for this series.

In TFA, we find out Snoke intentionally has not taught Kylo Ren everything he knows. He says at the end it is finally time to complete his training

To be fair, that is a pretty common thing said. I believe Palpatine said it to Luke and Vader. All that meant is that Ren is not a full master yet, which was obviously clear.

Not sure how I'd feel of this is the direction it ends up going. If it is, can we just bring back Vader too?

While the books are no longer considered part of the canon, it's pretty clear if you read the Darth Plagueis book that Snoke is almost guaranteed to be Plagueis.

They dropped enough hints in the movie to make it almost a certainty. First off, he's mention in Ep III so he is canon. He was a Sith Master, so they don't have to explain how a new guy got so powerful without a teacher. They already mention he could cheat death, so they can use that explain how he is still alive. His music is pretty much identical. He's 7 foot tall and lanky, just like his description in the book as a member of the Munn race. He's not been seen for years by anyone right before Palpatine is about to be made Chancellor as Plagueis has been in hiding recovering from injuries he suffered during a failed assassination attempt, which are the facial injuries just as Snoke has. He is known as Darth Plagueis the Wise, and Ren calls him a "wise" master in the movie.

I'd put it at about a 95% certainty that Plagueis is Snoke.
