Just got out.

As a lifelong Superman fan in his 40s, I was a bit wary about this one considering the terrible trailer and what Snyder did to Supes (though I loved Cavill’s portrayal). However, despite is flaws, plot holes and the convoluted, silly, mess it is at times…it won me over. This is who Superman is. This is who he always should be. I’m so thankful Gunn brought him back.

Brosnahan is definitely my favorite Lois to be put on screen (and as a bit of a back pat, I wanted her in this role since the first episode of Mrs. Maisel). Crypto was actually a joy (which I didn’t expect).

My only gripe is Lex. He wasn’t awful by any means, but I just didn’t buy what he was selling. Oh, and I guess I do agree that Ma & Pa Kent were weak. A bit too hokey for me, but it was much better than Costner telling Clark not to die and him obeying.

Since this seems like it’s the active thread

There’s a lot I really liked about this movie. And a few things I didn’t like.

To start with the good. I loved Super Dog. My dog is much sweeter and nicer but Super Dog reminded me of a white haired version of her.

I thought Superman was very heroic. He was rocksteady in determination and I liked to watch him do heroic things.

While k have some issues with the plot, I liked how multifaceted it was.

Nicholas Hoult as always is amazing.

I liked all the super hero stuff was already out in the open.

I don’t know much about comics but I damn loved the Justice League cartoon so some of the early justice league stuff tickled me. Disappointed in no Martian Manhunter to my knowledge (severely underrated dude in my opinion).

I like they had the balls to kill that guy

Ok, onto the negative. At a certain point, when all the CGI noise was happening on the screen in the last third of the movie, I just kinda started shaking my head. Tooo much CGI fake arse stuff. Too much. I started feeling bad watching the movie. I thought several times…. I’m an adult, what the frick am I doing with my life that I’m watching bad cgi of men punching each other.

I loathed the action scene in the pocket universe. That was exceptionally horrible. That baby is beyond dead, especially at the end when he’s holding the baby out and away from his body.

Over all, I thought the pocket universe thing was just kinda exhausting.

I also got sick of seeing phones in this movie. I know that sounds odd and a part of it is valid to the plot but the entire time I just was annoyed with the stupid people on their phone.

Oh yeah, they have the rights to one of the most iconic scores of all time and that’s what you do with it. I kept waiting for the full orchestra to boom it. Instead we got teases and hints of it. Utter bullshite

Just got out. I honestly don't know if I liked it or not. There's great stuff, but there's also so much going on it gets a bit overwhelming. I agree with you that the pocket universe was CGI porn. Just too much. I think I'll end up liking more on rewatch. This movie is just a lot to take in on first watch.

My take is, does it stand up to something like ironman, which was the MCU's origin? Does it lend itself to a follow up like we saw in all those mid credit scenes?

If not, then what's the point.

Yes, the world building was fine. The Supergirl cameo should have been cut though. That was simply not needed.

I just got out. Loved it. Casting was great.

It’s definitely a Gunn film. Take the heart of Superman 1 and 2 and sprinkle in the zaniness of GOTG and this is that film.

Mr Terrific was excellent. Supes excellent. Lois excellent. Really enjoyed it. It was FUN which superhero movie have not been lately. I can’t remember the last time I left a superhero movie and thought to myself that it was a great time. First superhero move since Endgame that I would go watch again.

On Supergirl, I think that's yet another solid casting. But again, the stories and overall world building seems sketchy.

There was a shite ton in the movie but it definitely sets up the world building. Established other aliens besides Supes. Established a ton of other metahumans. Set Lex up as the bad guy but his motivation is to save humanity from Superman. Lots of minor characters. Advent of the Justice League. I think it sets up the world better than Iron Man did. Is it as good as Iron Man, no. But it’s definitely better than any Superman not named 1 and 2.

Awful movie. 120 minutes of Superman getting his arse kicked and that annoying CGI dog. Would not recommend.

Just got out. I fricking loved this movie. Had heart, was colorful, touch of nostalgia, and humor when needed. Loved at the end when they put in the parent reel to help him relax and it was the Kents. Lois and Lex were wonderful and Mr. Terrific stole the show. Stakes felt real.

Drunk Supergirl

That Krytpo dog is gonna sell millions of toys.

Part of what makes Smallville my favorite Superman property is how they touch on how different/difficult his life is because of his powers and his secret and this movie tapped into that.

Only thing woke in this movie was Jimmy not wanting to bang that instagram chick all weekend

It established why Superman had Krypto and why he couldn’t control him. He was babysitting him lol. I loved it.

Alright, should they merge Reeves' Batman with this or not?

Please no. I’d rather see a fully developed Bat-verse on its own that includes Robin and Knightwing.

In general I don’t like multiple separate universes. Makes it too convoluted. They should just bring it all together.
