To be a viable tentpole, yes.

I feared that would happen and I wish it could’ve opened last weekend to give it a boost but going head to head with Jurassic Park would’ve been a bad move.

Not for a first movie while rebooting a universe. This can even lose money on marketing and be a success if it sets the rest of the films up to do well through recognition

Batman Begins made $38mm OW and $375mm WW as an example of a reboot of a failed Batman brand. We know how that turned out

The shitty Suicide Squad movie almost made $750m. This needs to do better.

Man of Steel - $668
B vs S- $873
WW- $822
The Batman- $752 (Covid)

It doesn’t HAVE to in order to be a tentpole. The’ve already won with the reviews themselves.

No doubt it makes at least $700mm imo

The reviews don’t mean anything. Jurassic Park is crap, it’s gonna make a billion.

They do mean something (reviews and audience score for word of mouth) to general audiences

You love to compare apples to oranges

JW is a different animal and does well internationally but not as well domestically. It’s not a comparison

It was just an example of a poorly rated movie not having anything to do with box office. What you’re failing to realize is this universe has no Batman to prop it up yet so this movie has to carry everything and with Supergirl up next this movie needs to hit a certain mark for the health of the universe.

Maybe wait until tonight? I’m not going until tomorrow so I won’t be able to jump into the spoiler thread until then.

Something I noticed looking at the reviews is that nearly all of the negative ones are from UK outlets

It could also be that those are the ones that aren't owned by Hollywood.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a director featured this much in the marketing of a movie.

Christopher Nolan.

Although it makes sense because if I see his name, I'm going to see it

Called what? Making sure people rating the movie actually watched it?
