Marvel showed them how to do it, so of course WB was like " No, we gotta do it differently, shake things up, push the envelope and such".
Risky to rush Justice League, then to have tragedy hit Snyder... the smart thing would be to pull back and pause for a bit. But investors and such, I suppose.

WB is a pretty inept studio considering the properties they have contrasted by the success they’ve had with those properties for the last 10-15 years.

Well imo rushing to catch up with Marvel was the mistake that led to all the problems.
100%. I feel like we're saying the same things here.

We always took the kids to these movies and I remember watching JL and thinking during the movie that it being lighter and more quippy might be appealing to the kids but after the movie I asked “what did yal think” and the answer I got was “what was that?” Lol

I took my oldest to Man of Steel. She cried. It never crossed my mind that a Superman movie would be so dark.
I loved it, but I guess I was just a little naive about what to expect.

What sucks about the DCEU is that the fricking wasted the casting.
Henry Cavill - perfect as Superman and Clark
Ben Affleck- Great as Batman
Gal Gadot - not a great actress but looked the part and did the job
Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Great
Fishburne as Perry White he was fine
Ma and pa Kent. frick yeah.
Luthor sucked. Flash sucked.
But they took a stellar cast and made shite movies. All out of order. They made no sense at all. Superman should have had at least 3 solo movies. Batman at least 2.

I prefer a movie that can illicit emotions other than the same ones you get on a tilt-a-whirl.

It’s true, they wasted some incredible casting

Yep. The TV flash... can't think of his name... was a FAR better flash than the goof in the movie. And Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor just didn't work. At all.
As has been said, the rest of the cast was great.

Hmmm...I'm not sure a Superman movie should illicit Batman-movie types of emotions.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a director featured this much in the marketing of a movie. It’s insane how much Gunn has injected himself into the promotion of the movie.

In a grounded realistic “what if an alien showed up on earth” way it should
If you want your movie to be 1950s cereal box Superman, we have that now too. I like both

This will need strong domestic legs because international isn't looking great.

100mm international only
Also opening weekend won’t account for Tuesday showings. Noticed on JW Tuesday was about $30mm and didn’t count toward that tally

I think projections were $135 ish for opening weekend. We need it to hit $185 to hint at it having the legs to at least do $800-900 mil. I’ll be doing my part tmrw bringing a crew to the matinee.

I was hoping China would give it a chance, but it appears to be dead in most of Asia

It needs to make $800M?

No, it doesn't. But my prediction remains man of steel numbers (600 mil range).
