Succession Season 4 Series Finale (Spoilers)

Just finished binge watching the series finale of Succession. Couple of questions the show ended with me asking myself:
1)What is the board's opinion of what ultimately would have happened to Kendall? I just have the feeling that he would have ended up ending his life either intentionally or could unintentionally die from a drug overdose due to not being able to cope with the loss of the company and his role as CEO. Felt sorry for the guy after Shiv screwed him over on the vote (or maybe he didn't deserve it).
2) Due to Shiv leaving with Tom at the end, did she possibly have a behind the scenes deal with Tom and/or Lukas to change her vote that maybe we didn't see? Just felt it was strange how she left with him.
Overall, great show, even though season 3 was kind of slow, but I definitely recommend.

I don't think Kendall or Shiv get a happy ending. None of the Roy kids were cut out to run that company, Roman and Connor at least kind of realized it. Kendall probably ends up blowing a bunch of money on half-assed, half-thought out business ventures. Shiv is stuck in a loveless marriage with Tom, maybe she gets some sort of meaningless title with Waystar/RoyCo.

I hated the ending. Shiv changing her mind came out of nowhere. She gets completely screwed over by Tom and Matsson only to decide to screw over her brother?
There were better ways for it to fall apart. Kendall played all the right cards the whole season. For it to turn like that didn’t make sense to me.
Also, the storyline about Matsson building his empire on inflated subscriber numbers would have been the nail in his coffin and that went nowhere.
To answer your question, Shiv knows she has to play nice with Tom since she’s preggers with her kid. If she can’t have the Company, maybe her kid can. It would have been very simple to pivot her that way, but the writers didn’t for some reason.
(Although you’ve got to wonder why she wants to raise a kid with someone who literally told her she’s not fit to be a mother.)
I think Kendall tries to build his own empire doing… something. Whether or not he succeeds depends on if he can put this shite behind him. Not sure he can.

I doubt any of them really give a shite.

Shiv, to her core, is completely self interested. Being the wife of the CEO was going to be better than being an afterthought sister to the CEO. Seeing Kendal with his feet on their fathers desk and his faux dick swagger was enough for her to know she’d never have a place there

100% agree. I think she also realized that, as much as she hated Marcia in the beginning, that she learned a lot from her and being married to the CEO could be a good thing.

I haven't finished season 4 yet, we just got through episode 3 I think, but I'm going to be disappointed in Tom being the CEO at the end.
He was such an idiot all the way through the series riding the coattails of his wife and then Logan, for him to be CEO at the end seems like the whole thing is just a joke.

I couldn't have loved the ending more.
Literally the perfect ending for this show on so many levels.
The power dynamic change in the end was truly hilarious

Just finished the series and this…
is spot on. I hated how it fell apart. Seemed lazy to just have that c u n t, Shiv, just change her mind out of nowhere. She was perfectly ok with screwing Lucas and Tom over, 10 minutes beforehand. It’s like she turned back into the little sister playing the “well if I can’t have it, neither can you” game.
Pretty sure Kendall is going to blow his brains out and I hope he waits until the day Shivs baby is born to do it.

Why would you read those spoilers?
Tom and Greg were the best part of the show. I wanted nothing but good things for Tom.
But yea, overall, the ending was a bit of a joke. I was glad for it to be over, almost everyone on the show was too miserable of human beings to take any more of. Especially Kendall. I was glad he didn't get it, he's a freaking bozo.

Deserve has nothing to do with it. A huge portion of our industry leaders and ruling class are inept idiots just like the Roy children. The ending was bad because Shivs stupidly cartoonish decision didn’t just end Kendall’s shot, it ended hers as well. We all know Kendall would self destruct and she’d have another chance at getting what she wanted so the ending was contrived and nonsensical.

wouldn't the three kids not stabbing each other in the back be more out of character?

Agreed.
I couldn’t take another episode of Shiv. I hate that she was the deciding factor. It made no sense for her to do what she did.

Greg is the only person that I actually wanted to get the company

why not? what does kendall give her that Tom couldn't? Plus voting for tom give her a extra couple billion. Going with Kendall was an irrational decision that she made only cause she was pissed at her husband.
Giving her junky brother the company to burn down doesn't make any sense.
sure it is a bit theatrical to have it come down to the last vote of a board meeting, but after all it is TV

Most realistic part of the show IMO

I dunno. It made sense. Tom went from being some upper middle class kid from what - Minneapolis? - to marrying into a family of billionaires. And he was smart enough and skilled enough at office politics to keep rising up the ladder. He didn't make any wrong moves. Look at all the dumb shite Kendall, Roman and Shiv did.

She was going with Kendall before she found out it was Tom though. She changed her mind to Tom after she found out he was in bed with Matsson and had taken her position from her...

Sure it does. If its such a foregone conclusion (that I agree with) that Kendall was just going to frick up, why not give him the rope? All she would have to do then would be beat Roman out once Kendall inevitably flames out. Easy path to the top imo.
