Finally got time to watch it last night. I think this season overall has been the worst. I haven't read the thread to see what the overall opinion was of that episode but I wasn't a big fan.
I'm sure there is Poli board debates going on but my dislike about this episode in particular had nothing to do with who won/what was said on the news/anything to do with politics.
I think this episode failed because like Logan said, the kids are not serious people. It is impossible for me to take them serious, much less have those three bozos behind the scenes just showing up and determine the winner of the election and determining when to call certain states etc. It was just extremely unrealistic for an episode that was trying to be very real. They should have taken a lesson from The Newsroom on how to do an election episode.
I just can't get behind these three coming in the studio with like 5 states left to go and here they are:
Roman: "frickity crap dick I don't know call it! Call it shitty mcshiterson"
Kendall: "O o o o well are you sure man? Like sure sure bro? I don't you know, you know Rome."
Shiv: *tears in her eyes* "frick KEN! Seriously?"

I’m not so sure she doesn’t love Con. It may not be the traditional infatuated premarital love a lot of people feel but I think she definitely feels a deep affection towards him and knows that he’s all in with her.

I always thought they tried to show his scale of exercising power by showing him be a complete dickwad to the wait staff at the different events they showed over the course of the seasons. Real douchy of him IMO.

Yeah the Connor love is misplaced for sure and there’s some revisionist history going on. Remember when he wanted to make a scene at the wedding just to make it on the news? And he did all that patriotic shite at the wedding that Willa didn’t want. He’s just as self serving as the others, he’s not a lovable scamp like some are making him out to be.

He’s not trying to play CEO, he’s just trying to play president. For the record I like Connor, but his lack of self awareness is just as deep, if not deeper than the others.

he is a funny character but like all of them, he is deeply flawed.
You say he has no arc but none of them have changed. Conner is there as a punching bag for the other siblings and the British socialist writer to say look at this clown that gets to run for president because of his dad's money.

Well in fairness to Connor, recent history tells me that you don't have to be the sharpest tool in the shed to be president

Hence, the dumb billionaire thing. Of course he's douchey. But there is a difference between being douchey than being just horrible humans like the other three are. I'm not saying he's a great guy. But if I had to be around any of them for an extended period of time, I think I'd rather it be Con.

The dialogue has always been shite, it’s like the complete opposite of a Sorkin political drama series.

The west wing seems like high fantasy after the two decades of politics that followed it

It’s been interesting watching someone like her give up every single dream and value she ever had and marry someone she doesn’t love all for something she thinks will make her happier. When she was hanging out in bars with her broke friends she probably thought of herself as a “powerful independent woman” chasing her dreams, and she went straight sugar baby the first chance she got.
willa has never been ideological, she has always been a realist. connor's money is how she thought she could pursue her "art" and show the world her talent. When that failed, she fell back to just connor's money

just re-watched the America decides episode and there was a lot I missed in the first go round
the ham handedness of greg with Tom versus the subtleness of Greg with the Roy kids is priceless
this is how elitist coastal types see America, all wrapped up in a nice neat package. Dems are the heroes, Republicans are the baddies and there is no in between
why did they all act like "calling the election" was some point of no return moment? ATN was one of hundreds of new orgs around the globe covering the election. What difference does it make what they say about the results? none of that shite matters. Only thing that matters is the way the State Electors cast their ballots - and what the Electoral College total comes out to be
Once polls close on the west coast the media election interference rules are pretty much over. ATN could say whatever they want to say, doesnt matter at that point except for ATN's credibility and integrity (which they have none)
it is painful how different each of their politics really are.
Kendall is the weak appeaser who inhabits the middle of road and is prone to falling for marketing campaigns and propaganda. Like his idiot ex-wife
Roman is the hardened right wing cynic that just wants to make money and collect power at the expense of "democracy"
Shiv is the limousine leftist and Park Avenue Power elitist that knows her world view is the right one and people like her should be in charge - of everything
Connor is the fanciful Libertarian and self styled counter establishment rabble rouser that just wants the credit for changing things to be the way he wants them to be - because he is a billionaire and because he is firmly entrenched in the establishment.

Roman is nowhere close to being right-wing much less hardened.
I believe Kendall's wife and daughter make Shiv look reasonable.

Maybe I'm cynical but I wouldn't be surprised if the board overrode them all, closed a new deal, threw them all out and passed them all over.
Call it "Logan's revenge".
Call it "Logan's revenge".
