Did I read this wrong or did will accepting his gayness give him super powers?
Just started a rewatch and they totally called his superpowers in S1 E2.
ETA: …irrespective of his gayness.

He's my favorite character in the entire series. Let it be forever known that in S5E2 when the demogorgon attacked his family, he didn't run like a bitch.
I was hoping he would just fall into the gate and end up sleeping in the chair in his house in the upside down because he didn’t know what else to do

Maya Hawke is unbelievably annoying, can’t stand her constant babbling and bullshite
She got way too many lines and screen time

Vecna is misunderstood and is a good guy (Noah said that in interview)
So are they pulling a Mind Flayer is Emperor Palpatine and Vecna is Vader?
That would be so lame but I actually could see them doing that since RoTJ was 1983 and fits the 80s.
11, 8, and Will all finally convince Vecna during a battle that there’s still good in him and he sacrifices himself to destroy the Mind Flayer.
Gay.
S4 setup Vecna as the true villain in my mind. He needs to die in a massive throw down with 11.
His appearance at the army base was badass

The Dad’s one of my favorite characters. The whole town is under military quarantine and he’s still working on his golf game.

What did they do in episode 2 of season1?

El picked up a figure of a wizard and she said “Will” and Dustin or Mike (can’t remember who) said “superpowers”

Yep! It was the inverted circling of the wagons tactic. Peak military strategy on display
They also use the Starship Troopers tactic of walking within hand to hand distance while using a ranged weapon.
Dumb

when that was happening, I told myself they were all shooting at its head which means up at about a 45 degree angle. Thats why they all didnt shoot each other.

I could see this happening as it doesn't take much creative ability to write that ending.
My 9 and 10 year old have been asking to watch the show for a while so we started them on Season 1 with some fast forward moments. (I forgot how much sexual innuendo there was between Steve and Nancy.)
It's a real shame how far the writing has fallen off a cliff.

We just finished. None of the stuff complained about in here bothered me at all. I did find period of some of the episodes boring and pointless though.

Want to avoid spoilers until at least Friday but will say once again Steve and Robin are my favorite parts
surprised will will take on a bigger role obviously in the remainder of the season now that he’s revealed to be a sorcerer. I couldn’t help but notice how bad his acting was in this first drop. his dialogue seemed out of place numerous times in the first few episodes
Wow, that's surprising. He has like 5 total lines the entire series
I guess he's a little hard to relate to and annoys me as a dad because he's so different from my dad who never sat still, is always joking around, etc. Mr. Wheeler is a bumb on a log of a dad.

He did, he did. Which actually might be the most surprising thing that's happened in the series so far. I was glad he did.

Does anyone else miss how much scarier the Upside Down was earlier in the show (especially S1)? I don't know how else to explain it but it looks way too "safe" and "clean" now.

Because there are seemingly no monsters for some reason. We watched the characters brave hell and die fighting in the earlier seasons.
Now there are helicopters flying around no problem

Mrs. udtiger just hit me with the trivia that the guy that plays Tom Wheeler (Joe Chrest) teachs theatre at LSU.

Yeah it reminds me of how much more of a horror movie T1 is compared to T2. The low budget actually helped with atmosphere.
Remember when Nancy entered the UD in the tree in S1? She could barely see anything with how dark it was.
Now in S5 you can have pizza delivered to the Sarah Connor base.

I don't think this is a fair comparison. While both films are part of the same franchise they are both different genres.
The Terminator is a sci-fi/slasher film that has more in common with Halloween and Friday the 13th than other popular science fiction films from that period like Blade Runner. Terminator 2 is a pure sci-fi/action film.

I mean I just love the bleak and dark atmosphere of T1 ($5 million budget). Whereas T2 is still a great movie but was a summer blockbuster.
