To put more gay characters in shows and movies? Sure but as long as the characters are written well who gives a frick. How boring is your life that you get upset over something so trivial?

I’m wondering if it’s going to lead Brenner and Owens getting killed by the military

Sullivan is definitely not a fan on Brenner. Brenner will probably think Owens gave them intel since they’re seemingly always at odds over how to handle 11.

Argyle sucks. Guy has been on twenty commercials over the past 4 years.

I can see why folks are loving this season. Can't wait for the final 2 eps.
A very solid effort.

Been banned for 4 months and then randomly unbanned. Woof. Like living in the upside down.
Alright, most have said what I believe already...alot of good except from the California crew, which might be the worst group of actors ever assembled by man.
Mikes one groove is angsty over-involved, misunderstood teen. It looks worse than that can opener he has for a nose.
Weed kid doesn't bother me. He's there to provide comic relief in the middle of three other pieces of cardboard.
An underrated moment would be Will dumping out his picture and its Mike's face painted using his "own personal"... "paints". Dude's a walking cum sock advertisement for insecure 80s gay kid.
Jonathan literally looks like he inhales coke 7 days a week. He actually looks like a bum. There's so much youth everywhere and then you look at this guy...seems like he been huffing paint thinner all pandemic.
Overall, best season IMO. The first season will always be great because I thought it was the best ensemble acting of tweens I'd ever seen....plus all of the newness and intrigue. ST has had the pattern all 4 seasons of "dry arcs" for some storylines. These don't stick out as bad this season even though some are...perplexing.

Agreed. I think Season 1 is still tops for now. It all depends on how Season 4 sticks the landing. But the way they've balanced all the storylines and attempted to give everyone something to do while also introducing some nice new characters, it's their best work I think. They've given most everyone an emotional arc as well. They've focused more on CHARACTER this season instead of just plot like Seasons 2 and 3, which is another reason it's so damn good. Character driven stories are almost always better. Their pacing throughout each episode and the entire Volume 1 is absolutely top notch work.

Probably because his actor is, I'm almost positive, still coked out of his mind half the time. He was busted for cocaine at the airport right before Season 3 was supposed to film and he couldn't return to the states for six months. It was kind of miracle he was in Season 3.

Also something I didn't think of and hadn't seen anyone else mention...
Maybe the reason Vecna didn't do much between 1979 and 1986 was his fear of Eleven? Maybe he somehow senses she lost her powers in the Starcourt Mall incident in 1985 and that's when he decided to make his move?

Could be. Again, they should’ve devoted one minute intercut with the goings on of seasons1-3 to show how he was growing stronger or doing whatever. It’s not like they couldn’t spare the time.

Also, I think the Mind Flayer being the ultimate antagonist makes sense because next season you can have 01, 008, and 011 unite to destroy it and that ties to the theory of 1 + 8 + 11 adding up to a perfect roll of 20 in DND
Aside from the cool DnD reference, this would be terrible writing. We have so many characters that have gone through so much to defeat the Upside Down. Bringing in 008, who is in the only truly hated episode of this series, and then redeeming a villain that has only just been amazingly setup, would be awful. El, Hop, Dustin, Steve, Nancy, Mike, Will, Lucas- these are the characters that deserve to take it out together if they’re alive. Not deus ex machina from a random offshoot character and a big bad.

Rewatched Episode 7 (had a few bourbons in me on first viewing and felt like I had missed some details).
A riveting bit of television.
Yes, they absolutely wove some threads that tie things together very well and NOT just as a convenience.
001 was evil; therefore, it would make sense that his obliteration would open the portal to the upside down.
It is also fascinating that 11 created the Hawkins portal (which, clearly, wasn't the only one [the Soviets had theirs]).
This is 1986. Victor's been locked up for "about" 30 years. Let's say 30. That puts the family murder in 1956. The boy/Vecna looks like he was about 10/11 (which would square with dad returning from WWII).
The events with 001 were in 1979, so 24 years later. Could 001 have been 34/35 in 1979? He was youngish, but considering he had lived his whole life as a lab rat, it's possible a 35 year would have appeared younger. A minor detail.
As for the speculation as to who dies, the fact everyone is on the table is a testament to the writers. That said, Eddie is an easy choice for the reasons stated.
In looking at the Volume 2 trailer, it looks like the Hawkins kids go into the upside down (Robyn is back with Steve and Nancy in one shot - so Nancy clearly snaps out of her trance). My guess is in response to Nancy not coming out.
I don't recall seeing any of the roadtrip crew (Mike, Will, Jonathan, Argyle), which is interesting.
I'm thinking that Brenner and Owen will buy it in the Army raid that's clearly coming and that 11 will wipe them out, leaving her weakened heading to Hawkins (road trip crew will come on scene shortly after and bring 11 to Hawkins).
As for USSR angle, I am at a loss as to how they're going to get out of there. Not only are the Russkies an issue, but I suspect those captured monsters will not stay captured long.
July 1 can't come soon enough
Actor who played 001 is 33 IRL, so very possible

In addition, I believe they state they moved into the house in ‘59, so just 20 years in between.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for this ending, but if they don't go in this direction, then what was the point of introducing 008 and why are her powers so different from all the other kids in the lab?

The creators weren’t sure at that time how to expand the lore of the other patients at Hawkins Lab and dipped their toe in the water with the 008 storyline. Everyone hated that episode and the Duffers promptly reversed course on that storyline and have barely mentioned 008 again. The only nods are an attempt to keep continuity, but the other kids in the lab have different powers because they came up with much better lore to explore. This whole El storyline is basically retconning the 008 thing and disconnecting her from the series.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle it. Back in 2017, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, they said:
quote:
Matt Duffer cites Berthelsen’s character Kali as just one reason why they feel the need forge ahead. “It feels weird to me that we wouldn’t solve [her] storyline,” he says. “I would say chances are very high she comes back.”

And after not being mentioned in Season 3, 001 briefly mentions her this season.

finally go through the first 7.
I usually laugh at some of the warnings/apologies posted before the start. But, i can see how the scenes from the hawkins lab could hit home for folks after the uvalde thing.
also, the fact that they warn about people smoking seems dumb. especially for a show based in the 80s.
i figured someone from the lab was the killer after the second kid was killed by vecna, i kind of thought the injuries resembled the kids in the lab.
the whole california thing seemed unnecessary. mean girls meets dazed and confused. really added nothing to the show.
the last 20 minutes or so tying everything together was pretty intense. 001 telling 011 about his past while nancy walked through the house seeing it happen. 011 sending him into the upside down.
still don't understand how 001 got his powers to begin with. and the thing 011 pulled from 001's neck was some sort of tracker? or was it something actually negating his powers?
i guess having most of the parents being basically clueless is a requirement for these shows? parents are dumb, kids are genius?

yeah, I kind of rolled my eyes when that warning popped up, but then I understood after watching. Pretty brutal timing.
