Love that dude. His last Jedi review was hilarious

So I watched the sneak peek after Mandalorian. It was just boring.

I think y’all are missing an important piece to why these movies sucked.
The first order and villains make zero sense. Why did the first order just randomly get power? What the draw to it? Who/what is funding it?
Maybe the rebels are the issue. They keep fricking up everything.

Yep.
This trilogy had zero world building. Just watching the movies, there is absolutely no explanation for how things got to the point they reached by the start of The Force Awakens. The First Order, an insurgent group within the galaxy, seemed to be more powerful and hi-tech than even the New Republic. And the New Republic, for whatever reason, decided to ignore them as a legitimate threat, thus forcing a group called the Resistance to be created to fight them. What sense does that make? And what exactly were they resisting if the New Republic was the dominant force in the galaxy?
This new Star Wars trilogy was essentially about two paramilitary organizations fighting it out for....what exactly? So confusing.

Yet, his reviews were very positive for both TFA and TLJ.

TLJ started to touch on this on the casino planet, but then abandoned that interesting thread and instead just went with a “rich people bad” narrative instead. This idea that the Resistance and First Order were being funded by the same people and whose fight was completely irrelevant to the masses seemed like a very intriguing rabbit hole to go down.

These reviews, even the negative ones, look very good to me. I am now excited.

The First Order actually makes a great deal of sense. They've spent the last 30 years building up their army in the unknown regions. That doesn't mean they didn't have contacts in the core worlds who at least on some level were funneling money into their projects.

Okay, so even if we grant that concession, why is the Republic now the Resistance?
Shouldn't the First Order be the "Resistance?"
Why did they even feel the need to call the Republic the Resistance? Why not just the First Order vs. The Republic.

You're skipping the first part of the problem. At the beginning of TFA, there were three different groups:
- The New Republic (de facto rulers of the galaxy)
- The First Order (insurgent group #1)
- The Resistance (insurgent group #2)
The First Order wanted to overthrow the New Republic but, for some reason, the New Republic didn't seem to care. So the Resistance was created by a separate group of people, led by Leia Organa, to fight the First Order. So you had the Resistance vs. the First Order and the New Republic as a seemingly disinterested neutral party.

It was the same problem from AOTC: Obi Wan does all this digging into the assassination plot to discover the creation of this whole clone army that was ordered years ago, but the planet was scrubbed from the records. Clearly, that army was expensive, and whomever paid for it clearly knew this whole war was coming. It’s so obvious that they need to keep investigating to get to the bottom of who ordered the clone army and how it was purchased, but they just say “nah, I guess they’re the good guys! Let’s roll clones!”
The First Order’s military is super expensive and would have required a massive tax base to produce. I understand they used slavery and abduction to man their army, but that’s still a lot of expensive ships. They didn’t all appear to just be leftovers from the Imperial Era. Who purchased them and how?
Imagine they use the casino planet plot to uncover the behind the scenes backers of the First Order and find out they have also had been propping up the resistance until recently (hence why they were out of fuel). It could have all been an elaborate plot that snuckered even wise old Leia. What a f$&king twist!
Maybe this wealthy group of financiers are the military industrial complex of the galaxy (they hinted at that). They need war to keep their factories alive and their resource prices high. They create villains like the Emperor to give “rebels” a boogieman to fight, then supply rebels with the arms to keep the war going. Rose can say something like “there will always be people fighting back against oppression!” And they can answer something like “indeed they will, while wearing the uniforms, buttons, guns, etc we produce and sell.” As he points out that everything she owns is something purchased from one of his companies. The jedi and sith are just pawns playing the roles of heels and baby faces on a galactic scale. That’s subversion in the middle of an interesting story AND it has a woke message.

Palpatine had been funneling resources to various locations in the outer rim and unknown regions as a contingency. The imperial remnants retreated to these caches and then vanished into the unknown regions where there were probably planets to mine for raw materials.

This movie is going to be universally hated
Those few that actually liked TLJ (mostly critics) are pissed because they had to reverse a lot of the disasters and dead ends it left, so they are mad
But then it's still a really shitty movie on its own (due to spending half the movie trying to fix issues form TLJ), so those that hated TLJ will also still hate this because its just fricking dumb
Thanks, Disney. frickers

That completely ruins the whole point of the Star Wars Saga. It's a morality tale about good vs. evil, right vs. wrong.
