I'm in the same boat. Typically if the shills hate it, then if must not be the proggie trash that TLJ was.
My hope is that it wraps everything up in a nice bow and tying everything together. As well as giving a little fan service with some nods to characters like Ezra, Ahsoka and some others.
I think if it can accomplish a few things like that then maybe it won't be a complete steaming pile of trash..
Then again I could be totally off base here and I'll hate it and will only watch the OT and anything Favreau, Filoni and Lucas give us going forward.

Remember back to your early teachings.
The Force Awakens was also greeted with much love by critics AND fans alike. And if you read the spoilers, though I don't encourage it, trust me...this movie is a steaming pile of shite.
Save your money. Wait for Disney+.

I love watching films on the big screen. It's almost therapeutic for me. One of the few times in my life I can relax for a couple hours.

Heard a man and a woman on Von Hesler’s radio show this morning who watched the movie. They said it was very bad. Two big thumbs down.
Their feedback (paraphrased from memory):
“This was Harry Potter meets Marvel, smashed up and vomited back at you while insisting that you like it.”
“JJ tried to cram too much in the bag. It’s a mess with a lot of things unexplained or developed. It’s like you are expected to just accept everything.”
“Rey is unstoppable and unbeatable just like she’s been from the beginning. There are no stakes. This really isn’t a Star Wars movie. It’s a Superwoman movie. A woman has all the complete power of the force now just watch her do her thing, watch her own and beat the hell out of everyone and everything and be in awe of it and love it.”

True, it wasn't terrible and it helped set the table for what could have ended up being an epic and fitting final trilogy.. Then TLJ happened.. having RJ just go off and do his on thing ruined that movie.. I can almost give Abrams somewhat of a pass b/c essentially he's trying to tie it all together to make it make sense. Granted JJ should have just directed all 3 damn films ..But I digress.
I've caught some spoilers, but for the most part I've tried to avoid them.
