Oh wow. That almost makes me want to see it.
I think that's the point of this repeated line. They want you to think JJ is "getting back" at big bad Rian, and that if people who liked TLJ hate it, it must be good.

And it's working. Dozens of people have said exactly that in this thread alone.

Don't fall for it.

When you consider the expense they went to make and market it, coupled with fan expectations (and they had a bit of a break here because of the PT), this tentpole turd is #1.

What about 2016 Ghostbusters? That cost 150 million to make.

I think it'll play well with the GA. Hard core fans will be divided.

I was going to mention it by name. I'd rather watch Jupiter Ascending than TLJ. JA is at least kind of funny bad i a harmless way. TLJ is aggressively, angrily bad.

They're going to piss off everyone with this one. The "original" fans were already turned off by TLJ and the ones that actually like TLJ will think this is a slap in the face. What a shitshow.

Oh don't worry about me. I'll watch it when it comes out on Disney+. I will not spend one red cent to see this film.

Clones was boring, had a meandering plot and really really bad acting all around.

A couple edits could legitimately save AOTC. Dooku should have been positioned as a political idealist trying to save the Republic from itself and trying to work with the Jedi. He should have spoken out against the executions of Padme, Obi-wan, and Anakin. He should have been aghast by the arena battle, and been the one to stop the battle droids. He should have made a plea for peace with the Jedi. We should never even suspect that Dooku was a bad guy until Anakin and Obi-wan confront him, and his crimson blade comes out.

Troll 2 is at least schlocky bad

Monkeybone thought they were the next Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Almost every actor was considered A or B list for their day:

Brendan Fraser
Bridget Fonda
Chris Kattan
Whoopi Goldberg
Rose McGowan
Giancarlo Esposito
John Turturro
Thomas Haden Church
Bob Odenkirk
Megan Mullally
Dave Foley

Cost $75 million.

Heavily marketed.

made $7.5 million total

Reading the negative reviews and why they didn't like it gives me great hope that this is actually going to be really good.
One critic actually said "If you hated The Last Jedi the you may love this".
Sounds encouraging to me.

And the positive reviews I've read (the ones that get red tomatoes) are basically saying it wasn't bad.

quote:

As someone who has spent most of my life loving this franchise, with a career that has been often based around it, I left happy.

quote:

The Skywalker Saga has been brought to an end, and sadly that was the only goal The Rise of Skywalker seemed to have.

This one is my favorite:

quote:

The movie snaps together like a jigsaw puzzle, a series of concluding beats that seem inevitable and perfect, and designed to please all parties, so long as you don't dwell on the logic too much.

Lol, as long as you can suspend disbelief, it's perfect. WTF?

I agree. I think it'll do well at the box office. I'm excited.

There is definitely a group of fans that loved it. It wasn't universally hated.
