There are plenty. The story in that timeline is great but Lucas decided to skip most of the points that make it understandable. Like who is Sifo-Dyas and why did he commission the clone army. Who is Count Dooku for that matter, right?
Then there is Christenson and his acting.
When Palpatine is orchestrating a truly masterful plot it just comes off as unintriguing political intrigue.
It's The Departed compared to TLJ, though.

Doubtful. Many of the die hards have read the spoilers and know the entire plot to the movie, myself included, and absolutely hate the road they went down.
The whole third act destroys the first six films of the saga and marks them as wholly unnecessary.

AOTC tried to be a love story/mystery, and was cheesy on both accounts. Arena scene with all the Jedi was bad arse, though.
TLJ was made by a guy that either didn't understand Star Wars, or hated it. Imperial guard fight was cool, though

Agreed. But I think it was made worse by the poor casting of Anakin. Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor and really went out of his way to show us just how poor he was at his craft in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. It's also very clear that Lucas doesn't understand why or how people fall in love.
