Still, there’s good news for Star Wars fans looking for something new. Kennedy stated that the reason for the film’s cancelation is because the studio is now focusing on The Mandalorian, a Jon Favreau-helmed TV series for Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

Ewan McGregor’s long-rumored Obi-Wan series is officially coming to Disney+, the company confirmed today.
McGregor was onstage at D23, the company’s biennial convention, to make the announcement. “It feels so nice to say,” McGregor said.
So much for that narrative.

They’re not. They’re also looking at the ancillaries such as merchandising. Solo finished in the red all the way across the board.
For the last time, stop trolling this board with shite you know to be fake news. Your contrarian shtick is getting old.

It's almost like they did it because of their streaming service...
Almost...
Almost...

Doesn't look like Rian is getting any more movies from Star Wars, explain that?
Also Disney uses + on the Marvel side to build into movies. Wandavision will be a build up to Dr. Strange. Movies make more than streaming.
Solo for sure changed the outlook on movies.

Explain what? The only sources saying he isn't making anything else are the YouTube nerds.

So...you mean kind of like the rumored Mandalorian movie?

Yep. Like I said...

Obviously is is cheaper to make a streaming show for your own service, than a widely distributed and marketed blockbuster. That also strongly implies a financial motive.
Before Solo, Disney thought they were printing money with Star Wars. Solo proved that to be false, and they panicked.

It counts video, residuals, sales, and distributions.
It says Solo lost Disney $76.9 million. Do you have something that refutes the P/L sheet?

TLJ broke my fandom. It was godawful. My son has been watching them all again and had TLJ on last night. He fell asleep during the into of Rose Tico, which we all have, and I got up and immediately turned that shite off. I hate her, Finn was my favorite from TFA, and they turned him into a fricking turd too. I’d rather watch the holiday special.

I mean, its going to make a lot of money...I don't think anyone denies that

Yea these threads are always dumb
"This movie isn't that great"
"BUT MUH MONEH!"
Who cares? If the movie sucks I don't care if it makes 5 billion. It still sucks. And vice versa

Part of what killed Solo is how Disney forced the theaters hands for TLJ. When you demanding things like this.
Disney is requiring movie theaters that show "The Last Jedi" hand over 65% of ticket sale revenue, and play it in their largest auditoriums for at least four weeks. If a theater did not for TLJ they had to turnover an additional 5% of the ticket sales.
Many theaters refused to show Solo due to this.
