It probably is, but I have a hard time putting it there cause that’s my childhood, I was like seven when it came out so it was a big deal

I don't know. There are so many memorable moments (moments made memorable by the other two films yes I know), but you have 1) Emperor Palpatine's debut, 2) The death of Yoda, 3) The reveal of Luke's sister, the best space battle in the franchise up until the release of Rogue One last year, 4) The final confrontation between Luke and Vader, 5) Vader's redemption, 6) The Ewok celebration at the end of the film.

TFA has fewer memorable moments, a lot of logical inconsistencies, and a giant CGI tentacle monster.

It seems like in the message board era, it's become the cool thing to bash it. I don't get the hate. I love ROTJ.

Ok good. We can stick together. Lol

I love it. From Jabbas palace to Yoda to Endor. It's nonstop action

You're not. The current atmosphere has been created by an endless series of internet groupthink circle jerks.

I think I'm the only Star Wars fan who prefers Williams's Special Edition composition at the end of Return of the Jedi. Yub Nub just never did it for me.

ROTJ was the first one a can remember watching in the theater. For that reason it has always felt like MY Star Wars movie. I love it to this day. I also really enjoyed TFA and felt is was a great effort to tee up the franchise once again.

The good reviews are nothing but red flags

“It’s soooo funny”

“Rian johnson understands these movies are for kids”

So basically the opening is a mess, they have to give characters busy work, it relies heavily on exposition, has a fair amount of tone crushing gag humor and way too much CGI

Ugh

Jedi mostly sucks. If you take out the throne room scenes (which is choppy because of the editing) there’s not much to like

TFA is better by a lot but is even further behind Star Wars and empire

if you take out the Ewoks, there's not much to NOT like

And i have no problem admitting that as a 6 year old i liked the Ewoks

I do wonder if Finn were white, would be been seen as useless?

This board does not like anything other than white males in it's movies.

though not beat for beat like TFA it's a remake of star wars. ian what's his face as the emperor is just awesome, the duel between luke and vader is awesome, the set, the music, the tone, etc. jabba is cool as shite.

outside of that it's a neutered han solo with ford mailing it in, leia is neutered she's no longer the feisty bitch, and the space battle just doesn't have the tension that the chase scenes in empire had. nothing happens between escaping from jabba's palace and the final confrontation which has way too much going on at the same time.

not saying it was an easy movie to make, but it just seems like the same effort and care was not given.
