Booked a flight to Endor. Used frequent flyer miles.

It isn't shown yet, but there could be many reasonable explanations. Maybe Luke kept it as a reminder and homage to his Father? When Ren stormed the new temple, he may have taken it?
The bigger question is how did they get Anakin's lightsaber? I can't wait for that to get answered.

Yes, but not actual junk. In a junkyard.
Again, why am I getting blown up?
I'm on the same side of this argument as everyone arguing against me.
I was just making a point regarding some of the nitpicking being made, and some how I'm now playing devil's advocate for the argument itself.

Not blowing you up. Just adding an observation to a point you made.

Wasn't necessarily meaning you, but I'm getting down votes and replies galore.

I mean, it fell down the same area Luke did in Cloud City. Sure, it could have just been sitting down there, but I always was under the impression it would have gone down one of those holes like Luke did, thus falling into the abyss that is that planet.

I get that, but I do wonder how long the First Order has been in existence, how many star systems are under its control, and how they were able to build such a massive weapon under the noses of the Republic while they were supposedly under economic sanctions.
The First Order came about from the remnants of the Empire. They all went into the Unknown Regions where it was harder for the New Republic to know what they were doing. A few people knew that they were up to something (Leia) but most of the Senate chose to ignore them while they gained military strength.

Everyone just got done educating me on the fact that with fast space travel, and instant communication, the galaxy isnt that big in theory. They definitely should have known about it.
It's called the Unknown Regions... it's not charted and people don't spend a lot of time hanging out there. It's essentially the perfect spot to build your weaponized planet.

I get your overall point of it being a lot of nit-picking.
Let's say the Falcon needs, say, 30 miles to slow down to a stop. Let's say the shield is maybe 100 or so miles above the surface (low orbit, really). Han, simply, is saying he can make the Falcon drop out of hyperspace in a tight enough window that he can both clear the shield, and have room to slow down enough to land. That gives him a 70 mile window, and he made it inside that window with about 10 feet to spare. For practical purposes, you assume they fudge a little towards the surface, because there is no recovery from hitting the shield, while in theory, they can crash-land onto the planet, and any survivors can then complete the task (with it then being a suicide mission, no escape).
The Falcon being junk has been a long-standing theme; it corresponds with hot rods. It makes sense that the Falcon would be so finicky and sensitive, as it's not a minivan, it's arguably the most finely tuned vehicle in the galaxy. everything must be just-so, or it loses it's edge.
Reflexes... maybe Rey has better. But Han is by far the more experienced on this particular craft, knows what it can do and what it can take. Any vehicle can be forced into a crash, by over-doing it.
Maybe Rey would have been able to have landed the craft without any bouncing, we don't know. But we are definitely led to understand she would not have been able to get it out at the precise instant it needed to be, whether via pre-plotting the course, or the exact timing of when to exit Hyperspace etc.
That's the tradeoff you get with a 70 yr old Solo. Hyperspace travel at it's finest.
quote:Easy enough answer- the actual true achievement is plotting the course so absolutely precise, that the Falcon emerges within a couple of miles of where it needs to be. Most times, ships appear pretty far out in orbit, needing a little sublight travel to arrive where they need to be. That means they give themselves a couple thousand miles leeway.
3 things.
1) Han hasn't flown in the Falcon in years.
2) It was charted, but he pulled out by hand. 70+ yr old men don't have those kind of reflexes.
3) The Falcon is "junk" and hadn't flown in years. Chewie couldn't have done that much work on it with one hand at Maz's.

If old man Han and the Falcon could do it, why couldn't the X-Wings? Why did the shield need taken down at all?
Again, I really don't care. But these are the type of things people are whining about. When TFA has less of these moments than the OT.

I wouldn't necessarily say it had less

Yeah, im going with the xwings did not have the finely tuned navigation capabilities of the MF. Plus, Han Solo...70 years or not is still a Star Wars badass.

Sure
It had quite a few (Not that ANH didn't).

Any fathers?
Do you shoot your son in the face or touch his face lovingly after he I pales you with his light saber?
He's been nothing but trouble and is a mass murderer? Also cost you your marriage?

Yes, I am a father.
If my son needs to be put down, I would prefer to be the one to do it.
That being said, if my son is basically brainwashed but redemption is very possible, I react just like Han.
I can't explain what I would do for my son, especially to save his soul(essentially what Han was trying to do).
For the record, Ford in that scene was brilliant. Especially after Kylo stabs him. His acting was flawless, and that look of forgiveness and love, combined with his hand, may end up being the most pivotal moment in the entire trilogy. Depending on where they go.

Nope. You can't shoot your kid. He touches his face with a look that says I will always love you no matter what after he stabs him.
I just saw it again. I still love it.
