I just left with such an empty feeling. We deserved more

WTF was Yoda doing when he caught the building on fire? Was that a laugh dance?

Was I the only one saying " DO IT " when Finn was going to kill himself in front of that weapon? lol

I agree that Kylo is a bright spot, which is why I felt disappointed that this movie did nothing to give him definitive direction. He was conflicted in TFA, and I guess he's conflicted still, even though Snoke is no longer around to mess with his mind.

Like just because Rey doesn't want to forget about everything and join him, he's somehow even more evil than before?

It's almost like the next movie could come down to a final showdown between him and Rey, and he might just end up dropping his saber and be like "Nah, you're right, I'm actually good."

So with Snoke gone, can anyone tell me who the F he is and where he came from?

He was never going back to the light, he saw an opportunity to take out Snoke and grab the power for himself and he took it. He also saw the opportunity to make Rey his apprentice and it didnt work. He didnt kill Snoke because he was conflicted.

I liked their scenes together

I think he genuinely had feelings for her. She means something to him. At least that was my impression

No, i agree he does as well, but he was never going to the light, he was trying to turn her to the dark.

Bigger than that to me is that snoke is dead and kylo is supposed to be the Supreme Emperor now but we've been told for two films that he has too much good in him to be the dark side leader so now we're just supposed to buy into him being the Supreme evil in the universe?

I thought at the end, it looked like they might force a Rey and Poe love dealio. Kind of like the Princess-Han deal.

I caught that as well. It seems kind of late for that angle. Your protagonist meets her love interest two-thirds of the way through the story?

Somehow Finn's character got worse in this movie.

It's such a wasted character.

I realize that and that's my point. The last movie before this reminded us all of what Luke means by clinging to the Hope that would be in Ep4 via the story of Rogue one. That's the last message Disney has on all our minds about Luke's destiny and importance.

Vader, Kenobi and Yoda all urged Luke to "fulfill your destiny".

I understand that is an overused phrase, particularly when trying to inspire a bunch of pre-adult athletes to go play a sport.
But in the context of Star Wars, it was supposed to mean so much more. I think that was part of the appeal of the series. Even throughout the poorly enacted prequels, as Anakin both squanders his gifts and the actual filmakers misstep, we have final knowledge of Luke's triumph and redemption of Vader to overlay onto that.

Really seems that this trilogy is deconstructing all that. Luke failed in what he was meant to do, in any meaningful way. The galaxy no longer has Palpatine at the throne, but is no better off for it, and whatever peace he brought seemed to last maybe a decade, if that. All he really did was prevent Vader from dying as a practicing Sith, and that heritage seems to be lost too.

If they want to make a story like this, why didn't they just make a similar (but different) universe to exist in? Money, I know.

If there is no more good in him, it was a confusing way to show it IMO. It seemed like he was killing Snoke to save Rey due to the good in him. Also with Snoke saying "I can see you striking down your enemy," I figured it meant Kylo was actually on the Light side in that moment.

I get what you mean, though. Maybe I just interpreted it wrong.

I will say that clearly that message of "hope" came back at the very end when he tells Ren that he is wrong about everything. It was Skywalker's emotional redemption compared to Vader's moral redemption

Did anyone else hate the slow motion scenes during the light saber fights? Felt out of place and like I was watching Kill Bill or some shite.

Can they just go back and reshoot portions of this movie? The elements for it to work are there, they just need to double down on those elements and axe the rest. All you would really need are Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and Andy Serkis when you boil it down. We all know the Han Solo movie is going to suck, so just do a few months of reshoots with Abrams at the helm and release it in its spot. There's a great movie buried in here.

Yeah, I didn't mind him there. Here he was just annoying. Every time he popped up on screen it was just "frick me".

The Whole "Find the Hacker" plot seemed forced, and like a time filler. It was basically a short story of how People who make money off of Selling weapons are bad people and we should destroy their nice things.
