Question for you geeks: Did anybody else's screening seem really dark a lot. I could barely see what was going on in several parts. Maybe it was just my angle to the screen, but it was pretty frustrating.
Dude, where did you watch it at? Mine was for sure

I'll agree again with you here. fricking sick of the children's humor in the new SW movies. Give me rogue one anyday. But i still enjoued this one. I knew people would be overreacting to the spoilers. No context to them.

Anyone else hate the forced humor?
I hate it when its during a battle or scene and then you hear Poe or Finn say "YEAH, or WHOA" and its so childish.
Same for the lame jokes. So pitty
Also, what a waste of talent for Del Toro. WTF was the point of his character?

I found the slight of hand about Leia dying to be a bit crass.
Luke was the best thing in this film and they threw him out awkwardly and needlessly.
Chewie was basically an Uber driver.
The Chinese girl did make Finn bearable. Was hoping that she would replace him in the series.
The plot revolved around Leia's ship slowly running out of gas? Seriously?
The Empire being unable to destroy a slow moving freighter is just hilarious. They can take out entire planets, but they can't figure out how to warp to another section of space and then warp right back so that they're in front of the snail of a rebel ship.
Too many cartoon characters. Those little penguins were annoying and added zero to the film.
Too many anachronisms. Yoda referring to the ancient texts as "page-turners".
Snoke croaking was ridiculous. Still can't believe they pulled another Darth Maul.
The military intrigue with Dern was just stupid.
The movie was entertaining, but was a mess. Way too many subplots.
I could've watched two hours of Luke interacting with people and I would've been quite content.

Alrighty
Seen the flick and it was decent, not great, but not a bad movie.
People need to realize, the Star Wars they grew up with is dead, the series has moved in a different direction, for better or for worse.
The Han Solo movie should be great, he and chewy had so much history and we never got to know them, like we did with luke, obie, princess, darth vader, etc.
I so want to know how Chewy and Han met, their hi-jinks as youngins, etc.
Still not sure why they felt the need for a Boba Fett movie, we know all about Boba, he was a clone of his father(jenga gave DNA for the clone soldiers) and got his arse kicked in Return of the Jedi, and he literally did nothing, but claim Hans body after Vader had him frozen.
He's as useless as Gredo was.

And the humor in all of Luke's scenes. Just thought it was unnecessary.

Well I’m extremely let down after that. Pretty much agree with the criticisms and praises in this thread.
Major disappointment for me was not having that feeling of loss at the end. I didn’t care that the purple haired woman died or the Chinese girl was hurt. Or even that Luke died. It seems that someone important should have died in a very dramatic and dark fashion. That and/or Rey turning, or close to turning at least.
I just left not really feeling all that sorry for the Resistance/Rebels. Are we supposed to feel bad for Ren since it seems like he’s the one that’s struggling the most here?
Also I haven’t seen it discussed but when Snoke was talking while Ren was appearing to murder Rey, he made a comment about Ren “turning” his lightsaber as they showed the lightsaber next to him turning. Given what we’ve seen Snoke do by manipulating Ren and Rey, I wonder if Snoke knew he was going to do that and be back next episode in a bigger way.

I see your point... Rogue One wasn’t setting up for this movie at all though considering it was before A New Hope
I realize that and that's my point. The last movie before this reminded us all of what Luke means by clinging to the Hope that would be in Ep4 via the story of Rogue one. That's the last message Disney has on all our minds about Luke's destiny and importance.
Then in the very next movie they release, it's revealed that Ep4-Ep6 were pretty pointless as Luke was revealed to be a quitter.
They were essentially trying to be cute and make us look at Luke like Yoda in the OT. The problem is, the exact point on Luke in the OT was that he was NOT like Yoda AT ALL. He continued to believe and didn't quit. It's like the people in charge of this movie had no basic understanding of the OT or even TFA

Angry Joe's review
You can tell he and his friends are in a bit of shock over the B-Plot. I'm not enraged by this movie, just in a state of shock like they are. Between this and Ghostbusters getting their reviews, my faith in the T-Meter is pretty much ruined.
EDIT: Finished it. They are acting like the aftermath shortly after being raped.

If done right, this could be best of any of the Star Wars movies. Han and Chewy are f'in epic.
I mean c'mon, how many people have ever done the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs????
