Spinoff: Why are Sandler movies still so appealing?

We all know Hubie Halloween probably isn't going to be good. We all have low expectations for his movies for the last 10+ years movies and are pleasently surprised when a new movie of his isn't horrible. Yet I and millions of others still want to watch his stuff?
Why is this? What has he figured out in the human psyche that still makes us all drawn to his films?

We are all caught up in the nostalgia of his prime and we want to continue to see the next great slapstick.

They're harmless.
It's like just buddies hanging out.
Plus he's nailed that aww shucks, regular guy even if he's filthy rich in movies (and of course real life.)
I mean if there was a real life Billy Madison (and there probably are some) nobody would like him.
So I think the self-deprecating aspect helps...he's never smarmy even if he's rich (Billy Madison and Grown Ups) - hot wife, hot girlfriend...so that formula appeals to the average Joe.

Adam Sandler has a natural likeability to him. He plays a good Joe Everyman or underdog or misfit that you want to root for.

I've seen exactly zero of his netflix movies. Before Uncut Gems I can't remember the last movie of his I've seen, probably Anger Management or Punch Drunk Love. Billy Madison is one of my favorite comedies and he's one of my favorite SNL performers so I'm not a Sandler hater either.

He's a likeable, funny guy. He makes mostly wholesome films with him as the primary goofball. I've never read a bad word about him as a person, and that's extremely rare for the business.

I like 2 of his films, one mainly for nostalgic purposes and the other cause I enjoyed it

That’s pretty funny and accurate.

For this one it’s the lack of new movie releases in theaters
There’s not much to watch right now
It was ok better than some of his other Netflix shows

Because his movies are a safe space where you can just sit and watch thoughtless humor for 90 minutes and escape the BS world we live in

I think anytime and comedian makes a few movies that make you cry laughing, you are always searching for that gold again.
It’s Vince Vaughn for me. The Wedding Crashers, Old School, etc era has forced me to watch a lot of his duds and I’ll keep watching whatever he puts out.

His comedy movies have a general story arch, but it’s often very weak or totally ridiculous. It’s just a vehicle for a series of sketch comedy moments, and his sketch comedy is very funny.
Don’t overthink it. It’s not high art, but comedy doesn’t have to be. People like to laugh.

His humor is generally non snarky every day buddy hanging out stuff.
There’s not a whole lot of non snark comedy out there right now particularly out by a famous name.

they're corny, no brainer movies that are good for few laughs.

When did this happen?

The only funny thing Happy Madison has produced in the last decade is The Wrong Missy and Sander is not even in it. I wonder why he gave it to Spade?
