I'll start

1. American Hustle - For a movie that got seven hundred Oscar nominations, it was a really boring and forgettable film that I haven't cared to watch since it came out in theaters in 2013.
2. Avatar - Pretty great action and CGI considering it came out fifteen years ago, but I always felt that this movie was about thirty minutes too long and lacked a compelling story. I really don't understand how this movie became one of the highest grossing films of all time.
3. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Probably my most controversial opinion of the bunch, but I couldn't get into this movie. It has a great cast and some great acting, but I never thought the story was coherent enough or came to a solid conclusion. I know it's not a narrative-based film, but 160 minutes of Hollywood nostalgia didn't do it for me.

how can this be overrated when it never received a ton of recognition? if anything it is much better than its $25 million gross and 60% score on rotten tomatoes.

In what galaxy is The Last Jedi overrated? It’s got to be far, far, far, far away. Everyone in their right mind despises that piece of trash.

I will never call a movie that got me laid overrated. If anything it's underrated.

Avatar is the correct answer here. Space pocahontas should not be the highest grossing movie. Did it even have any likeable characters?

Avatar was at least visually stunning to see at the time. I would go with Avengers: End Game, Get Out, and The Departed.

That was literally the only thing holding it up, being a technical wonder for technology that is rarely ever used now. Avatar was supposed to usher in the era of 3D movies.

The Big Lebowski.

And I like it. But my friends quoted it and overhyped it to me for years before I ever saw it. So living up to that was an impossible task for it.

The Breakfast Club (and most of the other 80’s lame-arse teen Brat Pack garbage films)

Never saw it. Probably belongs on the list from what I know.

Yep, almost the gold standard for your category, except that Crash and The English Patient exist. That's a good troika right there.

I've thought on this some more and The Shape of Water and The Green Book belong on this list, too.

Crash, Avatar, The English Patient, The Shape of Water and The Green Book.

Compared to these five, Driving Miss Daisy, Forrest Gump and (to a lesser degree) A Beautiful Mind are practically Citizen Kane.

Kids who watched Ferngully as a kid were young adults when Avatar came out and it was nostalgic as frick. It was basically Ferngully for adults.

Ooh, boy. Downvotes a comin'.

I am not saying these movies suck. Some are actually decent, just not the pinnacle of cinema/classic that sycophants make them out to be:

The Shining
Fargo
Bull Durham
Spinal Tap
The Social Network
Super Troopers

All three of those are good choices but especially number 3.

I'll go you one further though. Inglorious Basterds was a shitpile of a movie that Tarantino fans (of which I'm one) compelled themselves to adore. It's as though his fans feel obligated to love that movie.
