Any non-fans of this movie here? I put it with Slevin, with the plot twist. The characters are awesome. Great movie all said and done.

I thought about Smokin’ Aces when reading the Slevin thread as well. Very similar movies. Violent, tone that bounces from comedy to drama. Both clearly QT inspired. I prefer Smokin Aces, mainly for Ryan Reynolds and Chris Pine. Affleck getting blasted in the beginning was fun too.

Jeremy Pivens has a weirdly powerful performance in that movie.

Smoking aces is a guilty pleasure for me
Last like 30 minutes with the assassins all going nuts is insane .

The Hugo / calfskin jacket scene
"I take out?"
"To what, fu*kin' incinerate? Suffice it to say, some shite don't come out!"

I did not like this one. It's been quite a few years since seeing it, but I remember thinking it was trying way too hard to be cool. Was a style over substance for me. Maybe I need to revisit it and see if I think differently now.

I really enjoy this one. Went to see it in theaters with my high school girlfriend. I had a grin on my face the whole time, she had her face buried in my shoulder for half the movie.
Needless to say, she was not a fan of the hyper-stylized violence and it was not a great date movie

Alicia Keys is pretty hot in this movie. underrated part for her IMO. Common basically plays Common from John Wick. Amazing stuff.

Chris Pine's most un-Chris Pine performance

Same for me.
It's certainly not top of the line. Seems like one of those movies that isn't sure what it wants to be. The tone changes so often and you're constantly just bouncing around.
That being said, great cast with some excellent performances like Pine, Reynolds, and Piven. "You see exactly, and only, what I choose to show you."
And Clint Mansell did an excellent job on the music.
Fun fact: During filming Ben Affleck said of Pine "if I had to bet 10% of what I'll make in my career, I'd bet on that guy"

Love this movie but it tends to be divisive because of the ending.
Great cast, great score, and I love how the story develops.
