Goddamn, I'm looking for tickets again
This made me remember how much I love the theater experience. This was the first time I've been to the movie theater since the release of 1917 back in Dec. of 2019. Then COVID hit and my living room hermitage began.
Knowing this won't stream on Disney+ for at least 5 months as it has to have its theatrical run and then stream first on STARZ for Sony, I knew if I didn't go the theaters now, the movie surprises would be spoiled. As soon as I got home, there were 3 Spidey spoilers on FB and YT.

This movie would break $3 Billion if it weren't for that shitty virus.
If it does $1 Billion in this environment it would be a ginormous movie landmark.
Sony has to let Tom Holland stay in the MCU man. Has to. They've got more than enough for their own universe. Hell just hire Garfield again and let him do his thing over there but Tom Holland has to stay in the MCU.

does that imply/confirm 616 as the prime universe?
Technically, the MCU Marvel Universe is Earth-19999. 616 is the prime comic universe.
Also, does no one want to address the What If? version of Strange in the trailer at the end?

Gotcha
I'm guessing this multiverse will look like child's play compared to Strange's new movie

Sam Raimi is directing, and he's directing it like it's a horror film.

Also Willem Defoe ain’t to be played with… every scene he was in was fantastic

I know it's a ways away, but I'm glad Jon Watts will be directing the F4 movie. NWH proved he can handle a crowded list (and knock it out of the park)

I thought there was a line in an MCU movie that confirmed the main timeline in the MCU was Earth 616?

This guy confirms it. I would keep the MCU and comics separate as they are obviously meant to be.

I don't know why but I just had a thought about how funny it would be if somehow this situation was reversed and Tobey made the wish and you had literally every avenger come through the portal to fight fricking Topher Grace.

I mean, technically alternate timeline Avengers could have popped up from the spell too.

Just got back from seeing this. What a great movie. It has to be in the top two Marvel movies, right?

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how much the villains are in this movie and how little they revealed. I just thought they’d come in and out as cameos, but the Goblin, Doc Ock, and Electro seem to all have had 30+ minutes of screen time. Was thinking Dr Strange would be a much bigger factor in this movie and that Mephisto was impersonating him.

Excellent movie but this is one of my only two gripes.
The "everyone that knows Peter is Spiderman" misfire and Strange suddenly overnight becoming irresponsible with spells. Odd.

Yeah, while the film is great, I don’t see why Dr Strange would oblige Peter’s request. It’s a pretty petty one and who gives a shite about a college education these days, especially with the Snap in this universe. It was very out of character for him to do that which is why I was so confident it was Mephisto, since requests like that and destroying his clients is Mephisto’s bread and butter. I was thinking he was going to be the main antagonist in both this and the Multiverse of Madness and both movies are taking place at the same time, which would have been a nice twist.

In the movies, Dr. Strange has always been irresponsible with spells. He's always been in a rush to use magic he wasn't ready for. I think it was consistent with his prior antics.

I haven't read the comics, so that's nice to know.
But they did play loose with the spell rules. Supposedly it's pulling everyone from every universe that know "Peter Parker is Spiderman", but neither Venom nor Electro knew that. It's even addressed in the quick dialogue between Garfield and Foxx when he was expecting Spiderman to be black.

I'm convinced now that Hawkeye takes place AFTER No Way Home.
I'm going to disagree. I just got back from watching NWH and when in Hawkeye they made mention of the new Statue of Liberty there was no mention of it being damaged. So Hawkeye has to be before NWH.

Na Hawkeye is definitely after NWH. The year is 2024.
When the movie starts, summer vacation is ending and their HS Sr year starts in August or September. Then the Halloween decorations are up and he goes to strange in probably late October/early November. From there the movie takes place in a few days in late fall.
He moves into the apartment probably in December and swings across Rockefeller plaza with the Christmas tree lit up. At the same time, Hawkeye must be happening.
Hawkeye mentions the new statue for sure but it could be an even newer post Spider-Man destruction statue. Really the only thing that was broken was the shield. Can't take too long to fix that I bet.
TL;dr - NWH takes place in late summer, through early winter 2024. Hawkeye takes place the week of Christmas 2024
