Ah, I vaguely remember that. I'll have to rewatch that one before watching this new one.

The first two Holland ones were just okay for me. But No Way Home was badass.

I think it was more than that. I think the spell was that everyone forgot Peter Parker but not Spider-Man, which is why he’s studying for the GED I think at the end of No Way Home. He, as Peter Parker, practically never existed. But everyone remembers Spider-Man

Which is incredibly stupid. I understand why they did it but it creates such a mess.

Dare you to sit in the theater and as soon as Peter appears on screen, shout out, "Who the hell is THIS guy?".

Spider-Man has had more legs than most first era Marvel characters.

not the same story line but strikes me as the same tone as the 2025 edition of Superman

Eh maybe. But people got tired of Spidey always having help and always seemed to be too ingrained in the MCU instead of just being around sometimes like in the comics and mostly dealing with threats and struggles on his own.

People wanted a more grounded Spidey. Might not have been the best way but this is as close to Tobey’s Spidey, which is way more comic accurate as far as struggling in Peter’s personal life with relationships and finances while juggling being Spider Man. Being Spider Man is all Tobey’s Peter really had going for him and you can say that same thing for Tom’s character now. Character has always been the most intriguing when he’s broke as shite and down on his luck. An underdog

yep, Spider-Man is supposed to be miserable and poor. That's his whole thing in the comics.

Having him have the funding of Tony Stark and the network of SHIELD and his man in the chair make him less Spider-Man and more Iron Man

I’ve always been torn on this. It was the right move I think despite me not liking it at the time. Tom’s Spidey always needed more tragedy. It’s such an integral part of the character.

But still, despite other bad shite happening to him in the comics, he always had May. Even in the 2018 game where they killed her off (which was handled really well) he was still with MJ and was a lot older, like 25-26. Now he truly has no one. No MJ, no Ned, no May and no superheroes to fall back on.

I love the look of this one, especially the combat. There was always something missing with Watts directing action. Tobey’s Spidey had incredible stylized action and I hope we get more of that now with Cretton directing. Think he was the same guy who did Shang Chi and I think he brought over a similar stunt crew
