The punisher was in this movie more than stark was in homecoming. He also went to Bruce banner for help on the inhibitor chip.
Even the surprise villain was a world building character for the mcu
They even give him an unnecessary suit AI again just to resemble iron man
Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie but this was not the "bare bones" spiderman movie people were hoping for after NWH

I am in alignment with these. SM2 has always been a top superhero movie for me (X2 is up there for me as well).
I actually didn’t care for the first two Holland movies, although he is a great Peter Parker (and is good in the other Marvel movies). But No Way Home was badass.
I haven’t seen the new one yet but I suspect I will like it and it will be better than his first two. But it will take a lot for it to top SM2 for me. That movie is just awesome ans the perfect amount of campy, cartoonish shite mixed in with serious stakes, McGuire is great, Molina is great and Doc Oc is such a great villain. And the SFX are great too.

Same and I think it’s because the things the movie has her do to raise the stakes and position her as the main villain can’t be reconciled the way the movie wants in the 3rd act. It’s a swerve or twist in the movie but the buildup doesn’t match the payoff.

My biggest complaint about the movie was that Jean shouldn't be able to do all that telepathic shite yet
Until X trained her, she was mainly telekinetic. . .and crazy powerful with it
Iirc, she didn't know she could read minds until Xavier taught her
And that is waaaaaay later
It would be like introducing Magik as the Queen of Limbo, right off the bat
But then again the MCU had Danvers go Binary within minutes of figuring out how to use her powers. . .so frick lore, I guess

I don’t think she’s a good casting. Famke has a presence that you feel in those films

We just rolled out of the theater. Pretty good Spider-Man movie. It’s up there at the top. Off to the Cheesecake Factory for some food.
ETA: After dinner and the drive home, I'm chilling, cogitating on this movie a little bit. I rank it number three of the Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man 2, No Way Home, and then Brand New Day.

I didn't think much of her performance either. The weak point of the movie for me.
Really good film, but preferred No Way Home.

Not even close. The MCU Spiderman films are an absolute joke compared to the Raimi films.
The Raimi films are for actual adults who want to watch serious drama films with superb character development. The MCU films are for the TikTok broccoli heads who want to watch Tom Holland swinging across buildings and say, “HOLY shite BRO ITS frickING SPIDER-MAN DUDE LOOK AT HIM BRO!”

My boys have been re-watching all of the Spider Man movies over the last week and it's not even the best Tom Holland Spider Man movie. I still think that's Homecoming.
I am more upset that we have had four Spider Man movies that cover a timespan of high school + 4 more years and yet we still have not been introduced to the Norman Osborn, Harry Osborn, Otto Octavius, or Gwen Stacy.
On top of that we spent so much time connecting the tissues of Peter, Tony Stark, Happy Hogan, etc but completely ignored Wilson Fisk and only had a cameo from Murdock.
I may have convinced myself that I'm more frustrated with these films than I am satisfied by them.
