The warrants were for Tig, Chibbs, and Jax for the highway shootings. Opie went in because of what he did to the cop obviously.
I don't think the police have anything on Tig for Pope's daughter, so Pope was using the highway shooting to put him where he wanted him.

They've been building Opie up for a kill-off all season. He decided to stay in the club, decided to be VP, seemed to mend fences with Jax, was told about the whole RICO/CIA thing, was told about the letters... all a build-up for the kill-off. As someone else mentioned, he kind of forewarned about it as they were walking around the prison.
I wish they had taken a few more episodes to build his friendship with Jax back up before killing him. Don't get me wrong, I like a show that will kill off a character no one thinks will get killed off (see: GoT), but this just felt... rushed.
As story goes, I think Pope made a verrrrry bad decision. While it would have been tough, killing Tyg's daughter would have been seen as evening the score by the club. Calling for a club member (anyone BUT Tyg) to be killed for the Niner and the cop was excessive bullshite. They were killed as part of business. Once jax gets out, I think he's going to make Pope regret going to war.

Oh, you just KNOW he's going to kill Pope in some sort of medieval fashion for what happened to Opie. They'll have to hold off on killing Clay until the CIA/RICO thing goes away. My bet though is that Clay will have some sort of plan that keeps him alive. He certainly knew how to push Gemma's buttons.

Opie was in a county jail and had not been convicted of any crime. When a guy like that gets his head beat in by a pipe a huge investigation usually follows. No law enforcement group running a jail would have allowed that beating to take place in their facility. Brings way too much heat on them.
Someone would have to be held accountable.
Seems like his kids would be in for a huge payday.

good episode, you could see something was going to happen to Opie when he told the porn xwife he didn't care about anything anymore.
I liked the solid bad arse moves on Tara's point this show. She's in a low place, but she still got one over on Jemma and Wendy.

I think when you're dealing with multiple factions actively looking to work outside the confines of society, it's rare that they would seek accountability for the people running the jail.
Besides, if they're setting stuff like that up, they have enough people on the take to cover it up and not let bigger heat come down on them.

Perhaps. I'm basing my assessment on the press received every time an inmate in Orleans Parish jail turns up dead.
I'm certain there would be no shortage of attorneys willing to advocate on behalf of Opie's kids.

The revenge on the seargent down in solitary should be epic. Probably go down in the finale, and hopefully it's as good as when Opie got Agent Stahl.
