Well, aside from the WWIII battle scene, this show has been pretty solid.

Actually, a lot of the fire fights in this show are very unrealistic.

agreed. It's hard to watch shows like Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad then watch this. I will hang around this season, but I doubt I will be around after that.

Agreed. But there has been a couple of WTF/cheesy moments. They could have set up and staged the cartel fight better IMO. Didnt think it was all that realistic that they were pinned down all the while Jax and the others could go find rocket launchers.

It's crazy that this show could go from being so good in the 2nd season, to feeling like everything since is completely contrived. This season is better than last season, but that's not saying much. Too many people making too many horrible decisions is the only way the plot is moving forward.

perhaps we're being harsh, but SOA, had me hooked season 1. It was a fun show about the business of a motorcycle gang. I didn't need major stakes and worldwide entities...just some bikers selling guns, fricking up shite and dealing with the ATF...

as they move further into drama, the acting has become poorer, the characters aren't as good (thought Gemma was such a good character in 1, now she just sucks)

but maybe i'm just spoiled by other shows

thoughts:

Drea coming back is going to lead to a long storyline for next season.

OPIE is about to just start killing anyone in his way.

Does Bobby get to Otto in time before Potter makes the remaining item on the deal happen...? Is Otto giving FAKE info to Potter? (for those that don't know, Otto is Sutter)

We all know that Jax will never leave Charming. He's President & either Bobby or Opie will be VP. Tig will take his Sgt. at Arms patch back once that happens.

Why did Miles have to die? Him & 1/2 Sack should still be around...

Juice is going to continue cracking. But I think it's going to turn to a point where he tells Jax once he's Pres & they use the opportunity to set up Potter & his team against the IRA which is then handled like they handled Stahl.

Why are the prospect dufuses? It's hard to imagine that Tig, Opie, etc were little pussy bitches like these guys when they were trying to get in...can't they get some REALISTIC recruits?

I really love the premise of the show. I enjoy most of the characters a lot. It is just shite like the gun fight last night is terribly forced. The show has enough drama and story lines that it seems like sometimes they are just phoning it in. every situation seems complex and twisted but is usually fixed with an overly simple event or explanation.

- we all thought Jax would get the letters and shite would go down b/t him and clay. apparently tara tries once to give them to jax and he says he isn't interested in the past.
- juice steals coke and we all think he is fricked. instead he kills the new guy and everyone is happy
- clay hires some badasses to kill tara and they are too incompetent to kidnapp her
- we see gemma get the shite beat of of her and everyone thinks clay is about to get it from jax. but nope, jax is willing to shelve it b/c of the cartel.

now we think opie is about to go crazy on clay. i am sure that won't happen and someone (jax probably) will convince him to wait until another day. With all that said... i am not giving up on the show just yet.

tl;dr
i enjoy the characters and story a lot. i just find myself face-palming often.

i'm going to be in the minority on this, but Boardwalk is a complete waste of my time. The show is drawn out and monotonous. I have no feelings for any characters and only look forward to seeing what Chalky will do next. To me he's the only intriguing character. I really wanted to like it, but it's just not that good.

But back on topic, why were they trying to kidnap Tara, i thought it would be a clean executed hit, not a kidnapping, maybe because of Jax and the kids?

i assumed it was so they could either hide the body or b/c they didn't want the hit to be done in public.

Agreed. I know it was an "homage" to Call of Duty or whatever, but man that gun fight was hella lame.

guess so. I just thought the one guy he paid would be the only one involved and not a group of people. You hire a hitman, i figure you only get one person and not a group of dumbasses.

i was thinking the same thing. However, it seems like the Romeo just lied to Clay. He also told Clay that once things got put in motion, he couldn't stop it. That was bullshite. It's possible the 3 guys were probably part of the cartel's crew, not actual hitman. If so, that explains why they botched the job.

I think this is 100% the case... Thats pretty much been the MO of the show, especially last season with the whole Stahl thing.

Yep. It was easy to see once they didn't have Otto's buddy set up yet.
